Fate & Circumstance - A Hannibal Podcast (RDC7) @hannibalpod.bsky.social · 22/09/2025

It's goodbye from Felix, Shaira and Melisa as we decide to end the podcast early due to unfortunate, unforeseen circumstances. But we're truly grateful to everyone who listened and interacted with us. Here are messages from each of us to explain more. Fannibals forever. #Hannibal

Our podcast, Fate & Circumstance, has been on hiatus for a long time. This is because of several, separate unexpected life events that happened between myself, Shaira and Melisa.
We were finally ready to record again on Tuesday 26th August, to cover the season 3 episode ‘Dolce’, when on the evening of Monday 25th August, I received a phonecall from my Mother to inform me that the police had visited her home, because the body of my sister had been found dead in a hotel room.
We still do not know the cause of her death and, although I have tried to remain productive, the sad truth is that I simply do not have it in my heart to continue and finish the podcast.
I had been experiencing increasing levels of stress and anxiety when preparing episodes, which take a great deal of work and research, and started to suffer from panic attacks and hyperventilation on recording days, the likes of which I haven’t experienced in years. As many know, I have also in general just had a truly terrible year.
This grief isn’t going to go away any time soon, so I have decided that it’s for the best if we end things here. I am sad not to finish when we were so close to hitting the second half of season 3, but sometimes life just doesn’t want to give you a break and you have to make decisions that are difficult but ultimately kind to yourself.
I am so grateful for Shaira and Melisa for going on this journey with me and letting me expose them to this wonderful and ridiculous show, I will be forcing them to watch the rest of season 3 with me in our own time.

I am also incredibly grateful to everyone who has listened and interacted with us, I was amazed at how many people approached me at Red Dragon Con to talk about the podcast, you’ve been so kind and wonderful. As I type this, we’re at over 5000 downloads and over 3,300 listeners, which is worlds beyond what I ever imagined for such a niche, nerdy little podcast.
I won’t be going anywhere, the Twitter account is being rebranded and will continue to be a Hannibal fan account, with signal boosting people’s art and writing as well as my own, sharing memes, etc. The other socials will stay up. Eventually the Podbean hosting for the podcast will end because I don’t wish to pay for it indefinitely, but the episodes will remain up on our YouTube channel.
Thank you so much for listening to our rants, rambles and weirdly specific research. It’s been amazing.
Before I go, I’d like to shout out some other Hannibal podcasts that you should be listening to if you’re not already:
The Feast Is Life, hosted by DB Mars and Dream - thefeastislife.podbean.com
Deconstructing Hannibal, hosted by Sihaya - deconstructinghannibal.buzzsprout.com
Quantifiably Bitchy, hosted by Ch00chling/Rachela - https://www.youtube.com/@quantifiablybtchy
And a special mention to Rude Eats, hosted by Jeremy Greer and Mary Turner. Sadly Jeremy passed away earlier this year, but he put a tremendous amount of work into the podcasts that he made, and you can honour his work by listening to all of the episodes that he created. https://linktr.ee/RudeEats

Felix

It's sad to have to announce the end of our podcast, despite being so close to the end but due to circumstances noted above and personal circumstances we have had to call it. We've had so much fun with the community and I met some of you travelling to Germany of all places! Thank you all for listening! We really appreciate you all engaging and we are totally gonna miss your reactions to us watching the show for the first time. Don't worry, I will finish it! I am sure we all will and we will be scarred more than we are now! Take care of yourselves Fannibals!

Shaira

you freaks!! my gay ass is just as sad (and gay) as all of yours, i've had the best time being a part of this podcast and really learned so much. thank you to felix and shaira for being the absolute best co hosts and incredible friends, the perseverance from the both of them through so much and especially with all the prep that felix would do each week to bring you the material that we would, it's beyond admirable! i'm so glad to have been introduced to this fandom and i hope we can all be slutty fannibal weirdos together still <3 thank you for the love and support, it's so wild that so many of you tuned in but so eternally grateful!! i'd unconsiously deep throat an ear for any of you xx

Apologies, I spoke too soon. We're having to reschedule due to me having an unexpected panic attack today which has made me quite unwell. But we WILL be back very soon.

All three of us have serious life issues going on at the moment, so sadly, I couldn't arrange anything special to mark the occasion, but yesterday marked the one-year anniversary of the first episode of our podcast. 💕 Thank you for 2.7k listeners and 4.1k downloads. #Hannibal #Fannibal

I'm really sorry, I hate doing this, but I'm panicking a little because he's had worsening symptoms, so I want to try and arrange treatment ASAP Zero obligation to donate, there's a little fic incentive for fannibals if you fancy it, thank you for looking. ko-fi.com/felixfern/

Fundraiser For Honey
£287
ko-fi.com/felixfern

Honey, who I've had since he was a kitten, who turns 18 this year and has travelled over 100 miles across the UK with me in 10 different homes, has signs of Kidney Disease and possible Inflammatory Bowel Disease.

But he needs to first be given an ultrasound to rule out an intestinal tumour or obstruction before he can receive treatment.
This goal covers the estimated vet cost (£287.50), the breakdown I've shared on social media.

If you’re a fannibal and donate £20+, please feel free to DM me on Ko-Fi to request a short, silly one-shot! I mainly do Hannigram smut but am open to Spacedogs, Roardogs and Spacecannibal fics. It’ll be Skeb-style as I’m not in a position to do full commissions right now.

So it's fingers crossed that the stones will stop being wankers, and now I know for general future reference that my body makes kidney stones.

Fate & Circumstance - A Hannibal Podcast (RDC7) @hannibalpod.bsky.social · 30/04/2025

Though they assume the pain was caused by sediment moving down. But as I'm in no pain again, it's just: drink lots of water, the stones are small enough that they will pass without assistance, and if I end up in that level of pain again I have to go back to A&E.

DISCHARGED IN RECORD TIME So! Kidney stones confirmed. I have one on the left and one on the right, however, they're both high up. So the fact that I was getting pain at the bottom of my abdomen is a bit weird, they can't quite figure that out 😂

Fate & Circumstance - A Hannibal Podcast (RDC7) @hannibalpod.bsky.social · 30/04/2025

My pulse is a bit high, it was yesterday too, and they don't know why lmao but I don't have chest pains or anything so they don't seem concerned. I figure it's just because I'm constantly thinking about Hannibal Lecter.

Please be kind and patient with UK trans fannibals and friends. This shit has been going on for around a decade and getting worse and worse. And this is after finally getting a "left-wing" ruling government after years of a right-wing one. They're actually worse. 2/2

Between 10PM and midnight last night, the UK's Equality and Human Rights Commission published guidance attempting to enforce a US-style trans public toilet ban. Whilst not enforceable by law, it is a sign of how horrific things are in the UK right now. 1/2
