Hear us Now! at the 15th annual March for Choice, this September 26th in Dublin. Meet us at 2pm outside the Department of Health before we march to the Dáil. Share this post far and wide and show your interest by clicking "interested" on our facebook event page, link in our tree.
Square illustrated image split into 4 horizontal sections. The is a collaged image, two figures in the centre in teal and pale purple. Their eyes and mouths are from different people and are much larger, and jump off the faces. They are saying "Hear us Now!" in black and white ransom style font. The backgrounds of these are cone shaped speech bubbles, they are both patterned with interlocking points in shades of teal, purple and yellow. The ARC logo is to the right of the two figures in the centre.
The next section says "15th annual March for Choice" in white font outlined in black, with a similar pattern to the speech bubble behind it.
The next horizontal says "Saturday September 26th 2026" in black against a see-through white rectangle, that you can see the pattern through.
The last section is a teal rectangle with rounded ends and says "When: 2pm, Where: Dept of Health Lower Baggot Street"

New patreon post, discussing research I've been doing on women in early Christian Ireland 📝💭
A Patreon post preview image which shows monks in their cowls, they are looking at something beyond the margin of the cropped image. One is saying "how DARE she..." and the other one is saying "hisss". They both look fuming/scandalised. In the background is a stone celtic style cross.

Been home in Tyrone for a family visit. England is a very dry and warm place to come back to 🥵 hannah-mccann.co.uk/2026/08/13/bo/
black and white digital drawing of what may be a Dexter cow viewed from the left side - very large with short little legs. It's heavily crosshatched in kind of circular patterns. Her tail is swishing against the bulk of her midriff while her head is down, chewing away on the grass which is only hinted at in bits of the drawing.

A silly cutesy comic from me after a painful trip to Hastings' Playland hannah-mccann.co.uk/2026/08/04/h...
A comic in pink & yellow tones, telling the story of my falling in love with a pompompurin plushie at the amusements in Hastings. I didn't win, and I threw away over £10 in the endeavour.second page of the comic, a pinup of the pompompurin plushie in question. It's set against a dreamy swirly pink & purple background. The lettering reads: "goodbye pompompurin... I will never forget you". Sparky stars and raspberry colour love hearts surround the drawing too.

a digital drawing with a brownish thin charcoal-style 'brush'. It's a head. The character has a very thick beard and heavy eyebrows, lots of messy but woven-type lines. A beret-style had with felt accessories, a star and a heart, is on their head.

Here's a sketch from the excellent chat yesterday at Sheffield's Crossed Wires podcast fest, with longtime fave @blindboyboatclub.bsky.social chatting away with Carl Chinn. A gorgeous time 😇 hannah-mccann.co.uk/2026/07/06/b...
A digital sketch of Carl Chinn on the left, Blindboy Boatclub on the right, with a low coffee table between them as they sit on marshmallow-like armchairs, onstage - there are microphones visible, and Blindboy is also holding up a small black device. I drew him while he was reading his short story "I'll give you Barcelona" from this little tablet. Blindboy his wearing his red woolly hat and red-and-white plastic bag fashioned into a balaclava, as well as a black t-shirt that says "FOLK LORE". You can't see from this drawing (and we couldn't see from how far away we were), but these letters are made up of smaller references to English and Welsh folklore. Carl is wearing a blue-ish combo of tshirt and trousers, and leans back a bit, looking fairly comfortable while chatting into the mic. There are lots of snatched notes around the two men, here are a couple of examples: there is a Sheela-na-gig above Blindboy's head and it says next to this: "giant vaginas = blessing"; a speechbubble containing hearts around CATU & ACORN, the tenants' unions; and underneath Carl, it says, "Not proud to be the grandson of 'the real peaky blinders', but proud to be of real backstreet Brummy wenches!"

Gonna start blogging again, here's a simple and silly post to ease me back in and share these drawings hannah-mccann.co.uk/2026/03/15/b...
A digital drawing of Nina from Harvest Moon on the SNES. She has a foraging basket with her, you can just about make out some toadstools in it. She is in the caves, in the dark, having a good sniff of the dank cave plants that grow there. Digital drawing of an imagined scene from Harvest Moon (in Irish). Nina has the lovely yellow dog in a petting garden embrace, while its tail wags like billy-o. She is visibly delighted and asks, "an leat an madadh seo?" (is this your dog?) The farmer is next to them, looking a little sheepish but still quite eager to engage, and says "... Is liom" (Yes) A digital drawing of the farmer from Harvest Moon with a chicken on their head. The farmer looks exasperated while the chicken looks lively and happy. Along the sides I've written in irish: tá an chearc ag cur isteach orm! The hen is annoying me!

Been coaching Joe through SNES Harvest Moon recently. It's going very well.
A cute style digital drawing of a small cartoon cow in front of a whin bush. There's a blue sky with simple white clouds, a pink heart floating to the top left of the cow, and it says 'baby whin' along the bottom in the same yellow as the whin bush flowers.

sometimes my sketchbook pages can make me laugh and remind me to catch myself on (in a good way)
Sketchbook page, cropped so it's a wide aspect ratio. Pink pen says in capital letters across the top: ABANDONMENT IS INEVITABLE. In small black letters under "have you tried", then in green pen: "COPING using PRESENCE & GRATITUDE?". There is a face-on person on the left hand side in green pen looking askance to the right, where there in a person in pink pen in 3/4 profile, looking to the left. Both seem to be in a moment of mistrust, but perhaps about to bridge the gap.

A little airport drawing of myself from yesterday. I'm down home for a few days. Presently enjoying the sound of rain from the shelter of my old bedroom.
A6 pencil drawing of myself, a short white person with dark hair and glasses. I'm wearing a long jumper, hands are hidden in the length of the sleeves. A shirt and a skirt underneath. Tights, socks, brogues. A backpack on my back. Hopefully the posture I've drawn conveys that the bag is fairly heavy. My eyes are closed, head titled to the side. I'm a bit tired but fairly peaceful looking. You can see my real life thumb and finger holding the sketchbook in the bottom of the pic.

I've been to a couple of really great inspiring talks recently, trying to remember how to draw and take notes again after not having done it for so long.
An A5 ish page of sketches. Along the top there is a baseball cap, someone with dark pigtails daydreaming about a smaller person with light pigtails, a larger head looking wistfully to their right, a cartoon of myself thinking "it was fun" and hearts and stars coming out of me while another bit of text says "I am tired of shaking so much", and there is a bird, maybe a pigeon, in a nest above me. Next there is a slightly drunk looking person with a big jumper with a skull on the front, wearing a scarf with lots of hearts. I have drawn a shape and and arrow pointing to it to say "this shape" because I was thinking that a lot of my drawings are tending towards this shape lately, like a wide but short big stone or rock. There is a crow and a person with crosshatched hair. Then finally the notes from the artist talk begin, though there aren't many notes, mostly I spent time trying to draw the artists' likenesses. David Johnson sits with his hands wrapped round his left knee, fingers interlaced. It says "INNER VISION" above his right shoulder, with kind of zaps coming out of it. A speech bubble comes from him saying "I like objects" and another says "shaped by debate, discussion and the occasional disagreement". Underneath him it says "afantasia? Aphantasia? Hyperfantasia? " and a reminder to myself to look up the sensational museum. Then "docent?" cos I didn't know that word either. A drawing of Emilie Louise Gossiaux's head and shoulders, viewed from the side. A speech bubble from her reads "I love smelling an artwork. But the Henry Moore piece, it's meta scent was so strong I could taste it in my mouth and it stayed with me throughout my visit". Underneath it says "I like to understand where the artist's hand was" and above "something about touch replicates the creative process". In the middle of these is a drawing of the mediator whose name I didn't note down, and he is saying "challenging ocular centrism". A note by gossiaux: acrylic = plastic, oil: more like skin

Been trying to use my ipad for sketching more these days. I love being able to layer the drawings, but am less keen on being able to erase my lines. Layered Hannahs from sunny days
Three overlaid blue digital pencil sketches of a small child from the early nineties. The one on the right is petting a puppy, the one in the middle is in school uniform and holding a thumb up in front of their face, the one on the left is wearing one of those big sweet hats of the time, with a big bow on the band, and leaning over to the right.

Had a nice time gathering rushes with friends in Geldhow yesterday. Beannachtaí na Féile Bríde 🐣
A six panel comic with varying sizes of panel. The first is a speech bubble saying "I know a place" with some sparkles and a heart, against a stripey background. The next is a drawing of a red kite in the sky (bird of prey) viewed from below. The third has a close up of some variegated holly leaves, and a speech bubble saying "I miss this variegated holly". The fourth shows four small figures entering a woods, with one figure pointing to the right, and a banner style arrow coming from them pointing to the right side of the panel, up through a path in the woods. The next panel isn't bound by a box, and shows a very small pond. The speech bubbles read: "Ugh, why've they cut it so far back??... There was so much here". There are rings circling the location of two clumps of rushes at the side of the pond and a word balloon reads "two little clumps!". A speech bubble at the side says "never to mind". The final panel sits on top of the previous one, and shows a woman crouching low to the clump of rushes, she also has some scissors in hand and a few rushes too. A free floating word, "gently", is above her. The speech bubbles read "We'll just take a small amount... Leave plenty for others & the bugs". A final speech bubble at the bottom of the page says "That was a bit like a pilgrimage <3"Same as the 1st image but with digital green wash added
