New shiny little paper w Dr. Sussmilch & Prof. Brodribb! We found two genes that are likely crucial for rapid low humidity response in plant. The results suggests changes in cell wall-cell membrane and organelle osmotic potential can trigger the signal. onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/...

Excited to share our new preprint! Turgor loss triggers rapid, reversible RNA isoform switching, including the splicing machinery itself. Made possible by cpam (cran.r-project.org/package=cpam just accepted in NAR 🥳) Luke Yates, Jak Butler & Steve Smith @CoEPlantSuccess #plantscience

I guess it’s about time virus also goes crazy. A science news article probably summarises it better than I am, and TLDR: a virus enzyme is found to use protein to make DNA. The central dogma now have a new arrow to be added. www.science.org/content/arti... 1/2

I recognised I have a huge privilege in my ability to do Science in my second language with limited problem. However my research is still limited to English audience. So I have translated my thesis abstract. Please do the same if you can. theconversation.com/who-gets-to-...

Who gets to do science? A demand for English is hurting marginalised researchers
Everyone, no matter their background, should have an equal chance to work in science – but there are huge systemic barriers.
