This is The Sims Zero. Also known as Little Computer People (1985) for the Apple ][ personal computer. The image has been enhanced with lighting/shading in Photoshop, but otherwise this is the game. One screen for the whole house. #4kWallpaper #retrogaming #TheSims

In Little Computer People, you take care of an LCP and his dog (the dog is at the bottom left of the screen). You can watch him do his thing, or you can ask him (nicely) to do specific activities. Also, if you don't deliver food to him, his skin turns green and he gets sick. If you leave him like that for a few days, he dies. It's so great.

I made this 4kWallpaper from many Windows screenshots to see how much of the map in SimCity 4 (2003) could be seen in a 4k resolution. A couple years later I converted to MacOS and learned the Mac version of the game runs in 4k natively. Another irrelevant advantage to the Mac!

This game needs a remake. Intellivision had a game called Microsurgeon (1982) that was basically "Fantastic Voyage" without Raquel Welch. You operate a tiny vessel in the body of a dying man, fighting infections, applying drugs, trying to save him. Was really hard, but most of all, different.

The entire game's graphics are seen in this wallpaper, assembled from many screenshots from an Intellivision emulator.

The center area/structure was assembled from many Apple ][ emulator screenshots. The outer mountains were added by me, but the only actual enhancement to the original graphics is the wavy darkness effect. Oh, and the resolution, of course. (standard game window: 11 tiles by 11 tiles)

With those garage door drives the 'groan' (as I thought of it) was pretty quiet. On the Duo Disk Drive it was louder than a car horn. Made using the computer in off-hours impossible because I'd wake my parents up. Never knew there was an advantage to it. Another great early Apple trivia bit.

This was a 1080p wallpaper constructed of daytime screenshots from an Apple2 emulator, then the lit part was created by cutting holes in artificial darkness. And later the 1080p image was blown up to 4k using nearest-neighbor blending so it stays sharp.
