Quarter 2 Week 4 Update: Progress or Decay
Hello and welcome back to Hammer the Backlog, the weekly mini painting, productivity and accountability blog. We’ve hit one of the bigger milestones in the quarter 2 goals this week, as well as accidentally hitting another. Join me for a weekly dive into scorecards, targets and painted models. SCORECARD Ignore the actual red in the actual ledger, everything is green this week. I’m sure we’ll get that bug fixed eventually. Some day. Three Plague Marines painted this week, clocking in a 6 HtB points, and evening out the progress for the quarter so far.

Quarter 2 Week 3 Update: Seven, Is the Magic Number
Welcome back, puss-filled rotbags, to Hammer the Backlog, the weekly mini painting, productivity and accountability blog. We’re already about a quarter of the way into quarter 2 of year five, and I’ve just put the finishing touches on the first full unit of models from the Warhammer Conquest collection I collected (collected is a euphemism for bought) more than eight years ago. As far as hammering the backlog goes, eight years ago is practically yesterday, but let’s not let that detract from progress. SCORECARD Good news, app progress is back on track.

Quarter 2 Week 2 Update: I’m Disgusted With Myself
Hello there, fellow puss filled grubs, and welcome back to Hammer the Backlog, the weekly disease spreading, productivity and accountability blog. And mini painting! This week has been a classic week 2 week. Things are moving along, everything from this quarter is still new and fresh, and I have lots to talk about, if relatively little to actually report. SCORECARD All in the green this week, with 3 Plague Marines painted for 2 points each. That’s 6 points. That’s one over target! That means I’m probably only going to do two next week, evening out at 5 a week.

Quarter 2 Week 1 Update: Why Do You Have To Be So Gross, Michael?
Hello and Welcome back to Hammer the Backlog, the mini painting, productivity and accountability blog. I’ll leave you to guess if this week’s title is related to the minis I’m currently painting, or just something that my mother said to me because I was discussing bodily functions at the dinner table. Again. SCORECARD All green this week, the colour of snot and radioactive puss. Lovely. Green is going to be the theme of this quarter, I imagine. With “only” two models painted, let’s justify that 5 points. I’m counting each of the Plague Marines as two points.

Quarter 1 Week 13 Update: I Wonder What’s Next?
Hello and welcome to the final week of quarter 1 of year 5 of the Hammer the Backlog project, my ongoing mission to refind the joy (and paint up, I suppose) my 30 years of hoarded tabletop gaming minis. A real week of two parts, with the end of quarter well and truly in the bag, and the next quarter looming noisomely over the horizon. Let’s go through the motions of formally wrapping up quarter one first! SCORECARD A little bit of red in the ledger, and that’s even ignoring the accidentally red zeros in the “hold-ups” column.

Quarter 1 Week 12 Update: A Rest is as Good as a Rest
Hello and welcome back to Hammer the Backlog, where this week, very few backlogs were hammered. Hammer the Backlog is the weekly mini painting, productivity and accountability blog where I try to paint all of my minis before I do myself enough physical harm that I am no longer able to. Because I am middle aged and active, not because I’m self harming, but thanks for checking. SCORECARD A little bit of red in the ledger this week with no minis painted. A few reasons. Obviously with the quarter’s targets done, that took some of the pressure off.

Quarter 1 Week 11 Update: No One Expects the Elven Inquisition
Hello and welcome back to Hammer the Backlog, the weekly mini painting, productivity and accountability blog. Last week, at only 10 weeks into quarter 1 of year 5, I finished all of my existing Dark Eldar collection, leaving me with a luxurious 3 weeks left in the quarter with no pressing models to paint. When we last spoke, I was making a mental list (as in, a list in my mind, not a bonkers crazy list) of potential candidates for this sumptuous extra time. What did I settle on? And did I get it done?

Quarter 1 Week 9 Update: What’s Black and Black and Black All Over?
Welcome back to Hammer the Backlog, the weekly productivity, mini painting and accountability blog. You’ll notice I moved the order of those phrases around this week, as I’ve been saying the same thing every week for four years and three months, and variety is sometimes needed to stop us from going mad. Anyway, this week I painted black. Let’s see if I went mad. SCORECARD The only thing not black this week is the scorecard, which is completely green. With the raider counting as ten points, in fact, we’re double in the green, making up for last week’s measly two points.

Welcome back to the weekly mini painting, productivity and accountability blog, henceforth (and previously) known as Hammer the Backlog. I am Mick, the one who hammers the backlog, and you join me this week on a week that is going to look pretty bad on paper, but which was actually super productive. SCORECARD Ok, first hurdle this week is that I don’t have a scorecard image, as we are still working on the app and while it’s being updated I wasn’t able to grab the scorecard image this week. Having said that, it would be in the red this week for models completed, with a measly 2 done.

Hello there. Welcome back to Hammer the Backlog, the weekly mini painting, productivity and accountability blog. I know you’ve only got one question on your mind. What could have possibly attracted 16-year-old Mick to the army which featured the busty goth dominatrixes in their latex rubberised battle underpants? Well, the only way to find out is to read on!  SCORECARD I’ll be honest, it was probably the boobies. Now that that great spoiler is out of the way, another week fully in the green. Thursday somewhat snuck up on me this week, so I did do about half of the week’s painting today, to be honest.

Hello and welcome back to Hammer the Backlog, the weekly mini painting, productivity and accountability blog. You join me, Mick (he who hammers the backlog) at roughly speaking the mid point of quarter 1 of year five. It’s summer, I’m painting old metal models from the 90s, they are goths, could life be any better? SCORECARD It’s a clean sweep of green this week as I finished my Dracon for 4 Hammer the Backlog points and my “new” Incubi with shredder for 1 HtB point. A nice, uneventful week of painting, no stress, nothing in particular to report.

It’s Thursday, so welcome back to Hammer the Backlog, the weekly mini painting, productivity and accountability blog. We are still neck deep in an unseasonable heatwave, so what better way to celebrate that by going back and painting some models from the hot and wet 90s? SCORECARD All green on the scorecard this week with my Morathi archon conversion counting as 5 points as the centrepiece character for this quarter. She was easily done and dusted by Thursday evening due to being a relatively simple and enjoyable model to paint, with most (but not all, see later) decision making already done.

Hello and welcome back to Hammer the Backlog, the weekly mini painting, productivity and accountability blog. Welcome back to week 3 of year 5 (omg) of Hammer the Backlog, the weekly mini painting, productivity and accountability blog. It’s been another fabulously productive, start-of-the-year energy week of backlog hammering, so let’s jump straight into it. SCORECARD Another week fully in the green, with 5 little men painted, and all other commitments met. It was a fairly uneventful week this week, overall. I suppose the most noteworthy thing was that, since these models really were in terrible, terrible condition, most of Saturday morning was spent stripping, searching for matching bits and rebuilding.

Hello again. It’s year bloomin’ 5! Can you imagine that? Five whole years of hammering the backlog. Well, four whole years done, and on to the fifth. Since new years are usually when the biggest number of new readers come on board, let me briefly introduce myself and the project. I am Mick, and I am the one who hammers the backlog. Although I am a man of great depth and many facets, the only one that really matters here is that I spent about 25 years, from the mid nineties until 5 years ago, buying, starting and then abandoning mini painting “projects”.

Hello and welcome to the first week of quarter 4 of year 4 (Really? Can you believe it?) of Hammer the Backlog, the weekly Warhammer mini painting, productivity and accountability blog where I try to use an operating system to turn 25 years of buyer’s remorse back into joy. Every year, at the start of the year, I find four baking trays worth of abandoned projects and try to rekindle the joy and excitement that I had when I first bought them. Regular readers will know that by quarter 4, all of the choices are off the table, there is only one baking tray of unpainted models left to do to knock off the full year’s targets.

Quarter 3 Week 13 Update: Finish Him!
Welcome back to the final week of quarter 3 of year 4 of Hammer the Backlog, the weekly mini painting, accountability and productivity blog. It’s been a heck of a week of video making, and there has been a probably unneeded trip to the hospital (I’m fine!), so read on for the weekly scorecard, project updates and to see if I actually managed to get any models painted this week. (I didn’t) SCORECARD Alrighty then, a bit of red in the ledger this week. So! Let me explain! First of all, there were no actual target models to paint, as I got the last of the current batch of empire models done this week.

Quarter 3 Week 12 Update: Murder on the Reik (and the Back)
Hello there me hearties and welcome… No wait, I did the pirate thing last week didn’t I? Well, you write 200 blog updates in four years and try to be original! This is Hammer the Backlog, the weekly mini painting, productivity and accountability blog. It’s the penultimate week of quarter 3 of year 4, and a fairly busy and quite stressful week in real life definitely impacted painting productivity this week. But did it impact things enough to knock the quarter off schedule? Only one way to find out!
