Maybe we can run this like an ICPC competition. Reviewers get locked-down computers with access to ACM DL, IEEExplore and the USENIX and other libraries, heck let them run queries through a proxy that logs all queries.

My thought would be in video games. Map layouts that are static but not rendered all at once could be stored in such a file and read as player moves to reduce load times. An engine programmer might be able to shed more light on this thought (if it's plausible).

But I essentially met Glenn Houlihaan on there through the grad student union (he became a steward, I served on the CC as social chair) and we bonded over cricket. He even visited MLC during a season as part of grad work (his research focus was around sport).

In some sense I feel it comes down to the scale of friction when learning to program. Even with the Internet, you still have to 'read' the results to decide if it's the right one. AI is giving you one answer right there, so you might as well just use that.

Would they be able to program in a non-AI environment, or when it is unaffordable to do so? At least for SO, if you do come across a solution to your query, there is some discussion by others on correctness and alternate solutions. And they wouldn't be an exact copy/paste solution either.
