Some places like Sarlat la Canéda or Rocamadour in southern France, from what I recall there's not much Dordogne region (and surroundings) inspired RPG towns Also my hometown, Rouen, is actually in Shadow Hearts (it's not as gloomy as in the game haha)

It's a game changer to play GB or GBA on Game Boy Player with that gamepad, did Metroid Fusion and Zero Mission with it, almost as smooth as playing on og GBA

As for today's #ScanlineSunday I didn't want to leave Dark Chronicle without its older sibling, Dark Cloud. #DarkCloud #CRT

The forest dungeon of Dark Cloud, the hero is facing a maneater plant. Also the music in this dungeon is superb.

Yeah Dark Cloud feels like a rough sketch compared to Chronicle, I enjoyed it a lot as it was one of my first ps2 games, but not as much as it's sequel

Actually the original name is Dark Chronicle in Japan, it kept its name in Europe and was named after its predecessor in northern America. Marketing reasons I would guess, though I don't remember Dark Cloud to be a bestseller (2001 was pretty packed in terms of ps2 games)

I loved that game as a small Hamlet, I launched it again a few years back, and heh it's ok I guess. The music and SFX still occupy some room in my brain, same as some Game Gear games (Sonic ones mostly)

Again, some multiplayer games on Gamecube for today's #ScanlineSunday Timesplitters 2, I had a blast on this one thanks to the 4 controller ports on GC, solo game is quite good too, each level had its own atmosphere. Also an involuntary nod to @houseplantsinvg.bsky.social in the first photo.

Les jeux services disparaissant j'ai du mal à voir ça, certains marchent très bien genre Fortnite ou Roblox, et puis le modèle du pass/abonnement à infiltré le software (office) ou même certains appareils connectés, sans parler des services de VoD

Oui, mais pas autant que ce qui est répété par les personnes reprenant le narratif catastrophique côté US, Atari c'était pas grand chose chez nous et au Japon. Même s'il y a aussi eu des conséquences indirectes genre Nintendo arrivant en force en Europe après avoir pris le marché nord américain

Je pense qu'il faut mitiger un peu le narratif US centré du "crash de 83" et que d'autre part, s'il y a des conséquences post GTA VI, ça sera sur les formats AAA (de toute façon déjà mal en point), les thunes continueront certainement a affluer sur le mobile et les jeux services.

Still on the multiplayer side of the Gamecube for today's #ScanlineSunday Provided that you got the required hardware, Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles was quite fun with friends. The OST is among the best in the FF series with Irish folk inspired music.

One of the first dungeons of the game, the River Belle, the character is accompanied by a moggle which can carry the chalice in solo mode.
The restricted game area was a way to keep all the players in one screen without the need to split it. But it made the gameplay quite slow, even boring to some people, which I can understand. The characters stat growth was quite grindy too.
I liked its laid back twist of the hack n slash formula though.
Funny thing in this game, a lot of monster models are from FFIX (here a hedgehog pie), though a bit higher res.

A moggle! They're so fluffy and cute in this game :D

Yeah me too, I only finished it later as an adult. And yeah I'm a big fan of the series. There's only Advance Wars Dark Conflict (Days of Ruin in NA) I'm not fond of, the change of tone and art style didn't work for me. I also tried Super Famicom Wars thanks to a fan translation and it's quite fun !

The Gamecube might be my favourite console when it comes to multiplayer, and Mario Kart Double Dash might still be my favourite in the series, there's something about the gameplay and sensations that I didn't quite find in another MK. #ScanlineSunday #CRT

I mean, even if I favour original hardware nowadays, most of the time, emulators like Ares leave me satisfied except when it comes to tweak the analog range to get something similar as possible as the console and controller

It might be nostalgia that twists some memories but it sometimes feels that N64 emulation was simpler and more accurate 20 years ago, I mostly used PJ64. Though there were some graphical problems with some plugins e.g. lens of truth in Majora not working correctly.

If I recall correctly the Master Sword was called Excalibur in the French version of A Link to the Past. In Ocarina of Time, it was known as Épée de légende. I've no details as to why those choices were made, also there might be other names in french booklets of former Zelda games
