This was a joy! Podcaster Ollie Guillou paid a visit to our Birth of an Industry Gallery and you can hear my interview here. His timing was perfect as our 30 year old gallery is due to be replaced thanks to a grant from the National Lottery. Give him a 'like' and 'subscribe'! pod.fo/e/41e475

What a wonderful event for the borough today with this engaging piece of artwork by Tony Mallon called 'Winds of Change'. Widnes is now the proud owner of this huge piece of public art which stretches along the New St walkway from beginning to end. A proud day for Widnes heritage

#ThrowbackThursday This rather blurred photo is important for anyone reminiscing about town centre shops. Albert Rd in Widnes 1950. The coach is one of a fleet operated by Sexton & Scragg by Clayton's Undertakers. A search of the newspapers brings up an article from 1991 which may be of interest.

Dulcine - where's she now, eh! Dulcine was shown to have 200 times the sweetening power of sugar made with phosgene amongst other ingredients! Funny to think that the research into this was nearly 100 years ago. ICI with their fingers in every [apple] pie :) #iciarchives #unitedalkalico
