AND that the only way gen ai can exist is from mass theft of copyrighted materials. AND what it does to the brain’s ability to independently be creative after ai has been used in the process. While I'm not sure if or how much of this will ever be drawn out for the audience, I think it was helpful (and fun!) to work through the vagueness, motivations that weren't logical, and story holes that definitely WOULD impact recurring characters that will show up or already have.

Which sucks royally... Tiktok is sitting very uneasy with me atm, but that platform was the best I had ever been on for audience reach and engagement. It finally felt like the playing field was far more even than it had ever been on other industry standard platforms. Saying 'bye' to Meta was easy.

History is doomed to repeat or rhyme lest we remember it, & history / art is closely linked. I honestly think that this book should be part of the trio of books read in the first semester of learning animation, right alongside The Illusion of Life and The Animator's Survival Kit.

Also, given that info about the studio is often looked back at with rose colored horseblinders, I really think that this book is essential to having a more objective and complete understanding of the history of animation and the Disney studio, and how it intersected with events of the 20th century.

While this book doesn't teach directly about how to create, it does show the challenges those who came before us faced, what they endured, & how they persevered. That info is invaluable and deserving of learning and remembering.

In those regards, I think it fits into many of the book lists I see floating about. Perhaps more importantly, it humanizes, celebrates, and remembers the near-silenced legacy of the women of the Disney Studio; while there's a sense of injustice about it all, there's also much to be inspired by.
