The melancholy reflections in this article, about the economic erosion and emotional loss "for a place that doesn't exist anymore" due to climate change, is exactly what @alexsteffen.bsky.social has been talking about for some time: www.theglobeandmail.com/canada/artic...

And if Carney's goal is to build unity, does it make sense to cater to the minority of Albertans prepared to separate, at the expense of alienating so many others who are opposed to a new pipeline?

Just as importantly, I agree that this would be a terrible strategy -- not just unethical, but also ineffective. By publicly pushing so hard for a pipeline, does he believe that grievance-harbouring Albertans won't find a way to blame the federal government for its eventual failure?

I find the idea that Carney is tricking Smith improbable. He doesn't need to be an enthusiastic cheerleader for Canadian oil and gas simply to play along with her pipeline ambitions. He's actively spreading climate and economic misinformation about O&G expansion being essential to our prosperity.

It also includes links at the very end (a nuisance if you need to scroll past the transcript; in a podcast app, the description shows the timestamped sections, but not the transcript). Each episode also has a discussion thread in the community's Discourse forum, which includes much of the above.

Although I'm not listening to it much these days, Rational Reminder has a good blurb, a link to the YouTube video, time stamps for each section, and a complete transcript (e.g., rationalreminder.ca/podcast/412).

The absurdity of people driving to the gym in order to get exercise was bad enough. Now they can't even be bothered to walk from the parking lot.

I think it's a 360 degree camera mounted on the front of the bike or the back of the box.
