I think Falcom genuinely has the best hybrid turn based/action system. The two systems work in concert, they are not an either/or nor do they evolve ATB into action. It’s a true hybrid system.

Evan Call is in his zone with the OST, delivering tracks that match the scenes and period of the anime’s perfectly. There are so many times that bittersweet moments are elevated to emotional pay offs as Frieren grows and accepts part of herself

Fern is her apprentice that we get to see grow up from a small girl into a powerful mage alongside Frieren. She’s aloof and distant, not grasping Frieren’s oddities but as the anime goes on we see them both open up and begin to care for each other as a family

I’m obsessed with how Frieren handles characters, even ones that are only there for an episode or two. Like Graf Granat. He’s a side character that’s around for like 4 episodes but we see him go through an entire arc from revenge fueled parent to a man able to finally find peace
