(cw: vore) welcome back to another episode of "wow, i'm alctually really proud of this one"

people need to stop sleeping on genesis owusu, all three of his albums are amazing combinations of soul, hip hop, post punk, and electronic, with this one being the most outwardly political of the three, and it's fantastic! i do think his debut is slightly better, but i could see this overtaking it

Genesis Owusu- REDSTAR WU & THE WORLDWIDE SCOURGE

three favorite tracks
3. BIG DOG
2. STAMPEDE
1. THE WORLDWIDE SCOURGE

anyways, my second to last victim (for now) has been chosen

(cw: vore) idk why i associate her with mario tennis specifically, but whatever

i remembered enjoying their album from last year, but DAMN, this one is straight up insane! combining elements of prog rock, punk, jazz, and post hardcore to make an album that's both chaotic and amazing at the same time

Hesse Kassel- Morir Saltando

three favorite tracks:
3. Tulpa
2. Mariposa
1. El Reflejo

this is a pretty solid pop album, though i do think it's a BIT overhyped, i don't really think it's anything groundbreaking, even though i still very much enjoyed it the entire time. also, melatonin is absolutely incredible and one of the best songs of the year

Tinashe- Popstar

three favorite tracks:
3. Sunglasses
2. Crash Out
1. Melatonin

probably my favorite album that jane's released under the leroy alias so far, just an insanely fun listen from front to back and while i did find it a little bloated on first listen, i feel like i won't feel that way on repeat listens.

leroy- status update music

three favorite tracks:
3. GET UGLY
2. NOTHING LASTS FOREVER (EVERY DETAIL U HAVE EVER TOLD ME)
1. Summer Fling

very fun and pretty-sounding indie pop rock record. maybe a little front-loaded with it's first two tracks being the best part of the album, but the closer's amazing too and as a whole this is still a very impressive debut album!

Trooper Salute- 友達がいました

three favorite tracks:
3. ドップラー
2. 成れの果て
1. 絶縁

yeah, this is probably my favorite chat pile album so far (unless in the earth again counts). this basically just takes the dark, sludgy, and apocalyptic sound of their first two records and just does it better. what else can i say? it's just a great chat pile record!

Chat Pile- Who Loves The Sun

three favorite tracks:
3. Deep Blue
2. PEN I S MALL
1. Intruder

such a beautiful and heartbreaking record about grief and death whilst also managing to be one of the most unique and interesting albums of the year with its strange combination of hip hop, electronic, psychedelia, folk, and other genres. absolutely incredible stuff here!

By Storm (f.k.a. Injury Reserve)- My Ghosts Go Ghost

three favorite tracks:
3. And I Dance
2. Can I Have You For Myself?
1. Dead Weight

if this doesn't end up being my aoty, idk what will (aside from maybe that upcoming brakence album). this is just such and endlessly replayable project that improves upon an already amazing standard edition with bonus tracks that manage to be even better than the main album!

slayr- Half Blood (BloodLuxe)

(technically this is a deluxe edition of an album that came out last year, but the bonus tracks could easily be considered their own album, and i'll be treating them as such for the sake of this thread)

three favorite tracks:
3. Eyesight
2. Flashout Freestyle
1. Daytona

voregazer 🔞 @halcyon14th.bsky.social · 03/10/2026

i feel like this album probably would've hit harder for me if i was actually a neurosis fan that had to wait 10 years for a new album of theirs, but as it stands this is still a pretty great sludge metal album, even if some of the tracks (and the album as a whole) can drag a bit in places

Neurosis- An Undying Love for a Burning World

three favorite tracks:
3. Blind
2. First Red Rays
1. Mirror Deep

first non-relisten of the thread and, yeah, this is olivia's best album. taking her typical pop rock and singer songwriter style and mixing it with new wave and post-punk (even getting robert smith of the cure on one of the tracks) absolutely love this and i could even see it growing on me!

Olivia Rodrigo- You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love

three favorite tracks:
3. expectations
2. maggots for brains
1. the cure

the fact that i consider this one of BOC's weaker albums should say a lot about how good their whole discography is, because this is still a great record! definitely distinct from their others but very much still feels like only they could've made it. definitely worth the 13-year wait!

Boards of Canada- Inferno

three favorite tracks:
3. Naraka
2. Prophecy At 1420 MHz
1. You Retreat In Time And Space

voregazer 🔞 @halcyon14th.bsky.social · 30/09/2026

i think this one might've shrunk on me just a tiny bit, mainly because i think it's kinda front-loaded. that being said, i still absolutely love this, just an incredibly fun and sleazy record that makes me feel like a bad bitch every time i listen to it.

Slayyyter- WOR$T GIRL IN AMERICA

three favorite tracks:
3. CRANK
2. YES GODDD
1. CANNIBALISM!

voregazer 🔞 @halcyon14th.bsky.social · 30/09/2026

i think i talked about this album when it came out, and i still think it's an incredible pop album, short and sweet but not too short to where it leaves you disappointed and wanting more. my only complaint about the album is that the last two tracks are a bit weaker than the rest, but not by much.

underscores- U

(cw: same-size vore) honestly not that proud of this one either (and admittedly, not that into dimentio myself either), but hopefully some people will like it anyways

(cw: same-size vore) admittedly not too proud of this one, but i spent longer on it than i'm willing to admit, so now you guys have to see it

(cw: same-size vore) was in a paper mario mood, so i drew yet another underrated character (still kinda in said paper mario mood, so lmk if y'all have any suggestions from that series lol)

(cw: same-size vore) had to fix this pressing issue (also, fun fact: susie's in-game voice has a bitcrush effect, so i decided to play into that with the burp lol)

bouta add this whole album to my halloween playlist

i probably need to give their discography a relisten, but i do enjoy them. though, i haven't really come back to very many of their songs aside from once in a lifetime (which is admittedly one of my favorite songs/music videos of all time)

250

don't really have any prey crushes, tbh, but some of my pred crushes are vivian from paper mario (obviously) and susie haltmann from kirby, there's probably more but those are the only ones that come to mind rn

180

kind of a hard question to answer, since there's so many genres of music out there, but i guess the best advice i could give is to not be dismissive of any genres. there might be something amazing in a genre that you initially wrote of as something that you didn't like, so just keep an open mind.
