As individuals who believe in free thought, we know that now is the time to stand up for democracy and the rule of law. We refuse to stay silent as the law is used arbitrarily to silence the opposition!

The unlawful detention of Istanbul Metropolitan Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu and his colleagues is not just a blow to elected officials, but the latest step in a long-standing assault on the will of millions. We do not accept this tyranny.

We are deeply concerned that our hope and our future—the youth—are being condemned to lives of anxiety and uncertainty. We stand with the young people and all citizens who take to the streets to express themselves and defend their democratic rights.

We oppose the use of the law as a tool for political manipulation, as well as the vilification of diverse perspectives.

We stand with justice, reason, and freedom!
