Haihala @haihala.bsky.social · 13/10/2026Surely someone here did the back of a napkin math and realized that if the game costs say $10, that gives them about 5 mil tokens (Sonnet 5.5) before them playing is literally cash negative. And that's before you factor in things like taxes and recouping development costs. 000

Haihala @haihala.bsky.social · 12/10/2026Dota has split pushing as well. Ratting is more of a mental warfare thing. You poke and prod forcing the enemy to be constantly vigilant and wary of committing to anything for fear of losing more in the trade. High damage to buildings + no respawn on barracks(inhib) makes it more threatning in Dota 170
Haihala @haihala.bsky.social · 27/09/2026The general direction of bigger games hurts niche genres like strategy and fighting games disproportionately. Avatar is the way. Fun, quirky, interesting and budget friendly game. Overly focusing on launch numbers is harmful, just play the game. It's good. 020

Haihala @haihala.bsky.social · 21/09/2026Even if they wouldn't, surely the idea of Kraven as a villain dies before any work goes into it. There is no way they make anything significant and then realize they can't release it because of legal reasons and run off to complain on social media that sony won't let them make bangers. 010
Haihala @haihala.bsky.social · 21/09/2026Bear deserves what he got. He had so many places to turn back or at least minimise the damage but he just didn't. Phenomenal film. First horror movie that made me lose sleep in a while. 010
Haihala @haihala.bsky.social · 21/09/2026This is propaganda. If Disney wanted, they could buy out the remaining Spider-man adjacent IP but they would rather post stuff like this to alter the public opinion to devalue the properties before buying them out. 100

Haihala @haihala.bsky.social · 25/08/2026Insane to watch people go berserk for CODE_OF_CONDUCT.md existing. Is it just twitter? A lot of the folks I know that use it have very similar takes where they seem unaware of the 99.99% of 'normies'. 010
Haihala @haihala.bsky.social · 25/08/2026It's unnatural for an engineer to think beyond the precise goal they were given. It took decades for cars to get seatbelts. 000
Haihala @haihala.bsky.social · 20/08/2026In Finnish it's also frequently wrong with typos. Converting valid words to other words in its training set, disregarding context. My older personal phone literally has better autocorrect than my new work phone. 140

Haihala @haihala.bsky.social · 19/08/2026I'm pretty sure some version of this has been a thing for about 15 years already. The first versions were rough and basically just a laggy mspaint. Most teachers preferred whiteboards to them. It seems they got way better with a little ML. 000
Haihala @haihala.bsky.social · 19/08/2026The downward trend started after S1 but Stockholm syndrome is real. Just remembered that every time something doesn't add up, remember it's what Clara would have wanted. 010
Haihala @haihala.bsky.social · 17/08/2026Yeah in reality we prefer practical solutions while I find that a lot of the time academia prefers verbose obviousness that doesn't necessarily survive contact with a changing reality. 011
Haihala @haihala.bsky.social · 17/08/2026Single responsibility is also often abused, leading to the same thing that overly 'clean code' does where you have a lot of things and have to hop through many loops to get shit done 110

Haihala @haihala.bsky.social · 17/08/2026Glad you're learning, but SOLID specifically is somewhat dated and extremely OO -oriented mindset that's not necessarily a universal good, especially when taken too far over pragmatic code. (Cont) 120
