It's always exciting to see new faster than realtime TTS models than can run on any laptop and mobile devices. We're very much focused on Media Overlays and pre-recorded audio right now, but I'm glad to see the release of Pocket TTS: github.com/kyutai-labs/...

Media Overlays in EPUB are quietly gaining adoption among specialized libraries and passionate readers. To fill some of the remaining feature gap, I've been advocating for: - support for both sentence and word-by-word highlighting at the same time - and the ability to reference images

On my way to Kamakura after a weekend in Shizuoka and Shimoda. The Izu peninsula is really lovely, I hope that I'll be able to didcover it more thoroughly next time that I'm visiting Japan.

Three weeks ago, we sent the first invites for the private beta of Thorium Mobile on iOS to an initial batch of fifty testers. We're still months away from a 1.0 release but we're very happy with the feedback so far. If you're interested to test it as well, we'll invite more people in January.

It shows the main navigation along with books currently being read and the ones that haven't been started yet.A long tap or a left click on a cover shows a list of actions available. This screenshot shows the following ones: Read, Listen, Marks as Not Started, Mark as Finished, Contributors, Share and Remove.Reader view for a reflowable EPUB in landscape mode with two columns displayed side by side.Table of contents where the user can expand/collapse items and search as well.

Interesting interview on Igalia's blog about the Web and the potential impact on the DOJ ruling regarding Google: www.igalia.com/chats/alex-o... I've been wondering about similar things related to digital reading and the need for a public infrastructure hosted by a non-profit to steer the ship.

👋 Hello Bluesky, I've been mostly a lurker here until now, but I'm going to try to engage a bit more going forward! It's nice to get such a warm "early Twitter days" vibe around here, even now that more and more people are signing up.
