🏫 In Hackney, eight primary schools had to close in the last few years. Plans are underway to repurpose the buildings into spaces that serve the shifting needs of our residents, such as creating 48 new places for children with SEND, and converting two school buildings into much needed new homes.

We are reviewing Hackney’s civic twinning agreement with Haifa in Israel. Last night, full council agreed, in principle, to formally consider ending the 1968 agreement as part of a wider review of Hackney's international twinning relationships. We want our global partnerships to reflect our values.

😍 Great news for families with children with SEND! 48 more specialist school places will open for local children with complex needs in Autumn 2027 🥳 This is part of the expansion of Ickburgh School onto the former Baden Powell Primary School, which recently had to close due to lack of pupils.

🙏 Recently, we've opened 24 new places for children with SEND. 🏫 The Meadow at Sebright School is a special, calm space where children with speech, language & communication needs can receive one-to-one support, while staying connected with their mates in mainstream lessons.
