Took this image today. The River Avon at Fordingbridge. Note the fishermen by the waters edge. In normal times they would be up to their necks in water or being pushed downstream by the current to the weir. The riverbank is by the grass. Need a lot of rain to restore the levels to normal. #NewForest

Out in the #NewForest this morning, 1st time for several months due to the heatwaves. Distinct lack of water everywhere but hopefully rain due next week. However there is always 1 idiot who has played with matches.

Remains of a fire. The surrounding vegetation is very dry and the location which is known locally as The Submarines Pen, is not easily reached by vehicles.

The heather is in full colour now with the bracken changing colour

The River Avon at Fordingbridge Hants. In 30 years I have never seen this chalk river so low. No rain in the forecast and another heatwave predicted.

I am standing in what is usually the middle of the river yet my boots are dry. Hard to believe that The George Inn does suffer with flooding

Todays walk was circular from Rockbourne on the Hampshire Wiltshire boarder. Started at 8.30 to beat the forecast heat buildup.

Todays route from Rockbourne walked clockwise

This is not a footpath but a dried up riverbed which runs alongside the road through Rockbourne. In the past the road has been impassable due to flooding!

Despite the lack of rain there is still colour to be found in the New Forest.

This is a popular watering hole for the ponies but none to be seen. Very little water here

This stream is very dry yet this plant is thriving. Has managed to find some moisture.
