I'm LoS and I talk too much! This week, I think its story time. Each of these pieces I share today have a vignette in the alt text!

Luka didn't quite snore, but she did make a quiet breathy sound on the exhale. It made his stomach do a strange little flip, especially when she grumbled something indistinct and pressed her face in Jas's collarbone.

It was rare that Luka reached out for comfort, but the emotional strain she'd been under for weeks, even months, had finally taken its toll. It had taken hours for the tears to run dry - the angry words flooding past hiccuping sobs while she stalked on the carpet in front of where he sat. Her aunt, learning about an entire estranged family, admitting that she didn't want to accept the life she'd trained for... it all had hurt her, but it wasnt THE hurt, Jas knew. He'd waited, patient and silent. Finally, it came.

"Marek...he left me." With those words, she slumped down to the sofa beside him. Her shoulders rounded, hands covering her face as though she were a child, hiding from the world.

Without a word, he pulled her gently into his lap, cradling her against him. She stiffened in surprise at first.

When he didnt try to pry her hands from her eyes and take away the small defense that represented, she relaxed by degrees.

She began to talk, slowly at first, and then all of it poured out of her like a lanced wound.

He knew the moment she'd blown out her ire and pain, because she grew heavy in that way that a person does when they are beyond tired. Holding her close to his chest, he'd reached across to the book they'd been reading together, and flipped it open to the marked page. In a low, measured tone, he began to read.

She interrupted only once to correct his pronunciation of a word, drawing a smile from them both.

The whispery breaths soon started, and he put the book aside as she curved deeper into him. Keir run hot, she'd said once. A slightly higher body temperature than humans.

Jas held her, but only as a friend might. He closed his eyes, and admonished himself

The letters changed over time. Detailed notes on the veil, progress about the portal, and researches on the floating eyes. With the ability to exchange fleeting words on slips of paper, it made the separation from him almost tolerable. Like they were separated by distance, rather than realities.

She'd begun learning his language, spurred on by his refusal to translate those words he'd said to her while he lay unconscious. Little by little, Luka parsed out vocabulary she was looking for. Their communications became more casual over time

Casual turned intimate. Teasing. She found herself on edge all the time. MADDENING

Eventually, she felt confident enough to spell out her intentions, should they succeed in finding a way to pierce the veil between them. It wasnt the first time they alluded to such desires for each other, but he was ever a gentleman and stopped short of being too forward, always aware of the less 'free' aspects of her culture compared to his.

She wrote, in his tongue, "Subtlety is not they way of the Keir. I shall say this in a way that a Keir will understand. I want you inside me."

His response was immediate.

Five words was all it took for her clothes to suddenly feel too tight, too constricting.

She pressed back against him, greedily. One large hand spanned her waist, then took a firm grip that she knew would leave fingerprints. Jas braced his other hand on the bed beside her. “Tell me how good it feels,” he rumbled in her ear.

“So good” she breathed, her tone pitching higher as he slewly pumped into her. “I love how it feels to stretch around your cock.”
