Terribly bad analogy. Amputation implies permanence. Cutting off communication is not permanent.

Is this graph only for petroleum powered vehicles or does it include electric vehicles?

Can you explain why this graph shows that people drove more last month than they did in May of 25? This graph only shows cumulative miles driven over a 12 month window, it doesn't show how many miles were driven last month compared to previous years

I don't have any special knowledge about this subject. However, your graph does not address individual consumption patterns and does not imply people are driving more. It might be true but your data does not show that.

No, it's very clear to me that people care about gas prices. I would expect that people are going to drive less instead of slower.

Cars in the 70s got like 12 mpg vs. The typical car now being near 30

uh no, you don't get diagnosed as autistic from a child care center. You need to be diagnosed by a neuropsychologist. Stop making stuff up.

There was a post from a bsky dev saying they saw a search spike for the term but it did not reflect on trending and they did not know why and they are looking at the process to see what happened

To me racy does not have negative connotations, excluding puritans, and it seems like a word advertisers would use to sell a product like grok.

Your student could very well have a disability and are using this for accessibility.

Unfortunately I think you are looking at typical behavior of academics towards accessibility devices.

It means that aid programs like student aid repayment cost more to the user because they are based on the difference between their income and the poverty level

I know its a joke but I also think many people do not realize that handwriting is a burden or even barrier for many disabled students. Devices for all students that allow for transcription and typing with editing should be the answer before blue books.

There are so many echoes that it seems deliberate and as if the whole series was written after Trump instead of during Bush/Obama. It's incredibly prescient and informative of today. I highly recommend the audiobooks which have really good reagan and nixon voice acting.

I genuinely don't understand if you are being sarcastic. Are you saying no event in history has ever been due to an individual choice?

Michael @gzvenus.bsky.social · 21/04/2025
I don't understand what you are saying. I am making a simple observation that volcanoes or hurricanes do not have consciousness, people do, and that makes a difference when it comes to modeling natural phenomena.

Michael @gzvenus.bsky.social · 21/04/2025
Also, hurricanes don't have the ability to self reflect and decide to change course

I am saying that history is not a random variable with a well defined probability distribution and when using a probability distribution to make inference we should be careful about making claims about it being predictive.

There's another part of introductory stats that usually gets ignored because it's boring and repetitive and it is the idea that the variable under study is being sampled randomly and independently. Nothing in history is independent of what preceded it.

He said he is autistic which should be enough. No one needs a diagnosis to be autistic and it is also not your business to deny someone is autistic when they tell you they are. Furthermore, having money means he could easily acquire a diagnosis. Also...people don't like autistics so why pretend?

You are just missing my point entirely. I am not questioning whether or not the supreme Court has the power to do this.

Michael @gzvenus.bsky.social · 19/01/2025
Protections exist in the constitution for an inherent right. The supreme court has decided there is an exception to the constitutional protections but I don't agree.

Michael @gzvenus.bsky.social · 19/01/2025
who or where our rights come from is not a settled fact. I don't think it's the supreme court though.

Bush v. Gore was also a per curiam decision. I don't agree that unanimous supreme court decisions negate counterclaims.
