I have a sort of "odd couple" relationship between two of the core group that I hope people find endearing. And I have a bit of a hot head who gains some maturity which I hope reads like growth...

I like to think the relationships become important, but that will of course remain in question until someone other than me can weigh in :-)

The tale of a small group of trained operatives sent to the disputed lands to stand against an empire bent on conquest. One of their number is killed in unusual circumstances and the drive to find the killer pits them against a violent gang lord and a necromancer with an agenda of his own.

Questions? @juliebihn.bsky.social or @juliebihn.mastodon.socialThe bullet hit Trish in the chest, just below her right shoulder.
She was sent tumbling. Her chair fell back, tea spilling everywhere, as she landed roughly on her back. Leonard jumped to his feet and moved around so as to keep the gun trained on her. She lay on the ground, coughing at first, but that soon changed to a type of pained laughter.
“Well that was unexpected,” she said, her breaths coming in ragged gasps. “I should be more careful with my toasts.”
Leonard stared down at her, his gun at the ready. “Where is he?”
Trish turned and looked at the wound in her chest. “I’m not healing.” There was a slight tremble in her voice. “What have you done to me?” She faced him again, a cold hatred in her eyes. “What have you done to me!?!”
“Iridium bullets.” He needed to be careful, even like this she was still dangerous. “Now, tell me where he is.”
Trish roared. Her fangs extended, and she leapt to her feet. Leonard was ready, and he fired twice more, once into each leg. She staggered back and collapsed against the wall, blood flowing freely from her wounds.
She breathed heavily, in obvious pain. “Who are you?”

Questions? @juliebihn.bsky.social or @juliebihn.mastodon.socialIrena stopped and stared closer at the window, angling her head to get the best reflection. Her eyes were like pieces of amber, bright, alive, she’d always felt her eyes were her best feature, and the lights of the city made them glow as if lit by an inner fire.
She drew her coat around her, and flicked up the collar to keep out the cold, holding her umbrella aloft as she continued on her way to the hotel. The rain meant the sidewalks were practically deserted, people preferring to stay indoors or go by car if they had to go anywhere.
Irena always chose to walk if she could, to put herself among her prey as she prowled the city for her next victim. The onset of the industrial age drove many of her kind into the shadows, forced them to strike deals with the humans. Such weakness was not for her.
Irena Valikova would never negotiate with her food.
She reached the end of West 67th Street and crossed Central Park West to enter the park itself. A woman alone in Central Park at night might risk robbery, or rape, or murder. Irena had nothing to fear from such petty criminals, but she increased her pace nonetheless. It wouldn’t do to arrive at the Plaza Hotel in soiled clothes.
She walked past Tavern on the Green, its car park empty and the restaurant windows dark, all the happy diners having finished their meals hours ago. Irena had lived in New York a long time; she remembered when the now exclusive eatery once housed sheep. She chuckled at the thought. Some things never change.

So far, in the stories and planned stories nobody has travelled to the future (relative to our present). But every time Kade appears it is technically the future relative to his birth. The memory wipe he receives upon arrival would keep him from having opinions like that. #TimeTravelAuthors

I believe that many people go through life thinking "what if?", I know I do. And I feel that time travel stories are an excellent representation of that concept. They ask that question in a way that I find interesting, perhaps externalising my own questions and my own choices. #TimeTravelAuthors

Is it important for them to be elves at all? A subterranian culture driven from the light could be called anything...

The sun hung low on the horizon, and a bitter wind caused the tops of the trees to sway. Branches clattered against each other as pine needles swished in a dance as old as time. In the canopy of the forest, things were as they’d always been. But on the forest floor, he ran. #TimeTravelAuthors

So far, they don't. But as the stories progress, I hope to return more of their missing self.

They don't remember their past. To protect the timeline, whenever they are called upon to help, they arrive with no memories of their past. All they have is a name, and visions of what they have been called upon to do. But my off-camera history had them recruited by as a mortal in the wild west.

The main character lives outside of time. Magically summoned to arrive when he is needed to face whatever threat requires his particular assistance. The first story is set in 1963, the second is set during World War II in 1944/45, the third I am thinking will be 1972. #TimeTravelAuthors

I completely understand its normal. I'm not surprised in the least. But to answer your question, the query only included the first few chapters. These have been drafted / revised / revised / revised / beta read / revised / beta read / revised again and edited... I continue with editing the rest.

Sent some queries out to agents last week. Already got back a couple of rejections. I was expecting them of course, it's just part of the how the game works, but even so... didn't expect it to be such a gut punch. #BookSky #AuthorSky

Like any other game we have no idea how the story is going to play out on the night. But I don't believe anyone changes their play style as a result of the write ups. In fact, the write ups occasionally omit in game antics that aren't suitable for public consumption 😆

This is the second campaign we have written up. The Vecna Eve of Ruin was done before this one. We take notes during play and these get combined after each session and written up and shared with the group for validation. I wouldnt say it changes what we notice but perhaps inspires more quotable play
