G. Willow Wilson @gwillow.me · 8hWas out planting bulbs and this guy scared the bejesus out of me. In theory we don't have black widows west of the Cascades, but I flipped her over with a bamboo stick to check for an hourglass, just to be sure. (This is likely a false widow, which eats pest bugs.) 15762
G. Willow Wilson @gwillow.me · 02/10/2026She's clearly been busy. 😂 A good reminder that not all imperfections are a sign that something is wrong. 3713
G. Willow Wilson @gwillow.me · 02/10/2026Went out to check on the garden and accidentally came back inside with a friend. All the bees are slowing down this time of year--either getting ready to overwinter or to die--and quite docile. This is a leafcutter, so she's at the end of her life cycle. I found a nice zinnia in a sunny spot for her 515610
G. Willow Wilson @gwillow.me · 02/10/2026It’s an early start midweek game and thus somewhat sparsely attended, so every voice counts. We were chit chatting during the set up for a corner kick and one of the capos called “124! Get your hands up!” We got our hands up. 😂 1781
G. Willow Wilson @gwillow.me · 01/10/2026I regret (or delight) to inform you that new JCO discourse has hit the timeline, and this time it is NUCLEAR 1414719

G. Willow Wilson @gwillow.me · 29/09/2026Don't be fooled by the cute face. In the last 2 weeks, this creature has killed and eaten his entire janitorial staff. Two amano shrimp. A detritus worm. At least one ramshorn snail. (He's sizing up another one here.) Now there is algae growing everywhere. Whose fault is that, buddy. 8822
G. Willow Wilson @gwillow.me · 28/09/2026Past the equinox and the garden is still chugging along. (Though I won't show you the sad state of the vegetable bed.) We're on an urban heat island, so we often have something in bloom through October and even into November, though it'll start slowing down as we lose the light. 3793
G. Willow Wilson @gwillow.me · 21/09/2026Looks like I haven't managed to avoid the con crud after all 61130
G. Willow Wilson @gwillow.me · 17/09/2026Salvia uliginosa (bog sage). This was a tiny 10-inch seedling when I planted it a year ago; now it's 7+ feet tall. 2942
G. Willow Wilson @gwillow.me · 13/09/2026Been a Hull City fan all my life. Massive Hull City fan. 12530

G. Willow Wilson @gwillow.me · 05/09/2026Anna's hummingbird hitting up the aptly-named hummingbird cerinthe (plus a zinnia). 213210
G. Willow Wilson @gwillow.me · 05/09/2026Right? According to my mom, she wanted to name me Willow as a first name, but Willow Wilson "sounded too much like a comic book character." 2230
G. Willow Wilson @gwillow.me · 01/09/2026Picked a bunch of breakers today, since there's rain coming. We went from "barely any tomatoes" to "all the tomatoes" in the space of a week. 111852
G. Willow Wilson @gwillow.me · 26/08/2026Next, it's BLACK CAT Issue 13, which brings Felicia's accidental beef with the Punisher to a conclusion--with some surprising results. Is there more in store? Oh yes. Will Felicia feature in the Queen in Black? Stick around for Issue 14, which is fun as hell. 510310
G. Willow Wilson @gwillow.me · 26/08/2026It's a THREE book week for me--I don't think that's ever happened before--and they're all big ones. It's a very dark night in Gotham as Ivy realizes how meaningless power is within a corrupt system...and hands the city over to the Parliament of Trees. BAD SEEDS: SUNSET and POISON IVY #47 out now. 7814
G. Willow Wilson @gwillow.me · 23/08/2026Last year, I planted beach strawberries and pine berries in the same bed. Foolishly, it did not occur to me that they would hybridize. Anyway the hybrids have just started putting out these tiny fruit, which are the most otherworldly little flavor-bombs I've ever tasted. Like pineapple fruit punch. 1428720
G. Willow Wilson @gwillow.me · 22/08/2026'Beloved striker who nearly died on the pitch returns to his old club in their hour of need' is as good a storyline as you will get in sports, or even in fiction 4660
G. Willow Wilson @gwillow.me · 22/08/2026I need borage in my garden at all times, and while it is not particularly happy in this heat, it *is* blooming 5772
G. Willow Wilson @gwillow.me · 21/08/2026Our black krim tomatoes are finally, finally starting to turn. 71120
G. Willow Wilson @gwillow.me · 20/08/2026If the world wasn't burning to ash, this aspect of climate change--revealing the past, the bones in riverbeds, the inscriptions on rocks, "ghost gardens"--would be really cool. As it stands, it feels like a bad omen. 14426100
G. Willow Wilson @gwillow.me · 18/08/2026I thought Black Cat Appreciation day was about something else 😭 520624
