There is something especially lovely about taking a Monday off work. Went for a 7.5 mile dog walk in the New Forest, a pint at The Huntsman pub in Brockenhurst, and then dinner at The Cromwell Arms in Romsey. Happy days and a sleepy dog. 😊🐕‍🦺

Kelp on the shoreline, golden sunrise, and Monty’s puppy prints in the sand. Perfect. I lived overlooking the beach in Carbis Bay for ten years, and the ever-changing sand was Monty’s playground for his first 2 years. I treasured the 6.30am beach walk come rain or shine, summer or winter. 😊 #life

….Sitting quietly in the old fox holes, getting a sense of perspective, was a visceral experience. There is a memorial but you have to pay to see it. I thought it better to just quietly sit and reflect, and made a cross of remembrance from the woodland floor and weaved it to a nearby fence. 🙏

Last week, I drove through Europe visiting a number of WW2 and WW1 battle sites. One of the most emotional was Bastogne in Belgium. Using a map we found the exact spot where Easy Co, Band of Brothers fought in the Bois Jaques forest. The foxholes are still very visible. ♠️ #WW2 #BandofBrothers
