I went to see Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home last night as part of its 40th anniversary and Trek's 60th. It was very cool to see it on the big screen! Now I really need LEGO to make a Bird of Prey version ASAP!

I really don't think the RETRACTION of this article is getting enough attention! Both for how Nature will seemingly publish anything if there's an ulterior capitalist agenda behind it, and for how this paper was used to beat people into submission to include LLM use in classrooms.

Genetic contributions to LECA.

LECA’s gene repertoire was chimeric, containing genes derived from the Asgardarchaeota-derived host cell, mitochondrial endosymbiont, and potentially other prokaryotic sources, along with a set of eukaryote-specific genes that evolved after the divergence of eukaryotes from prokaryotes.
