Elleithee asks Amb. Waltz if Congress should have authorized the use of force in Iran. “Every Republican and Democratic administration has deemed the War Powers Act as unconstitutional,” Waltz said. “Secretary Rubio has been there almost every week. They were given sufficient notice.”

Thank you for following along with our event! From debates over prediction markets moving beyond sports into geopolitical events, to questions about maintaining market integrity, the conversation underscored the need for stronger disclosure and thoughtful regulatory line-drawing.

A student asked why insider trading is harmful. Brian Quintenz explained that the problem is fraud and the misappropriation of nonpublic information. When someone trades on information they have a duty not to use, or that belongs to someone else, it undermines market integrity and fairness.

How do we protect the investor in prediction markets? Amanda Fischer said stronger disclosure is needed, pointing to bets on whether Khamenei would leave power. When he was killed but hadn’t “left office,” participants were frustrated the market didn’t resolve as expected.

How are regulated markets changing and how that will shape the current administration? Brian Quintenz emphasized the need for disciplined line-drawing in regulation, while Amanda Fischer noted that these debates aren’t partisan, they are serious policy questions, accelerating since the Trump era.
