Israelis for Peace NYC - who are near and dear to my heart - held a vigil in which they read testimonies and eulogies of both Israelis & Palestinians on this incredibly difficult night. It's not for everyone, but to have it disrupted in this way is absolutely shameful.

I was both a student and an instructor during those initial lockdowns and I dunno about other fields but geoscience just cannot be taught properly without in-person labs. (geophysics MAYBE.)

hard work beats raw talent every time. speaking as a former gifted kid slacker who had to learn to work hard and push through. I went to grad school with a good few people who maybe didn't quite have my raw brainpower but are far better researchers than I am because they're more diligent & driven.
