My streams went from 20-40 viewers avg to single digits. I don't think it's just restricting vids, it's probably suppressing them too.

No one really wants Batman to pick up a gun and blast the Joker. They really don't want him to break his "one rule." They want to see how he handles that pressure, how he overcomes adversity, despite that line being poked and prodded. #WriterSky #FantasySky #WritingCommunity

010

Gruzbee @gruzbee.bsky.social · 10/03/2025

A true hero always has a line in the sand, a line they won't cross. The villain does not. The hero, however good they are, is the result of the pressure from the villain. If the good guy is boring, it's not because they're too good... it's because the pressure to cross that line is too weak.

Gruzbee @gruzbee.bsky.social · 10/03/2025

I keep seeing complaints about "good guy" characters being too boring, and how complicated, "bad guys" are more interesting. Heroes and villains isn't rocket science. It's just lines and pressure.

It's not like this wasn't expected. 144 pages in, and the pov shifts to a new important character, and now my job is to make the reader care about it. So I guess it's like, awkward personal introductions: Dear Reader, may I introduce you to the novel's main antagonist, and here's their baggage, too!

The quest for quality "portal fantasy" continues. You know the ones, right? Surely there are some out there that aren't carbon-copy rehash... chocked full of smutty sex JUST to make a buck... right?
