New paper in @sfnjournals.bsky.social #JNeurosci! 🧠 Using #EEG and a #somatosensory roving paradigm, we show that stimulus history shapes anticipatory brain activity before sensory input, suggesting #predictive processes can be observed before, not just after, sensory events. #MMN #Neuroskyence

Does stimulus preceding negativity reflect predictions in a somatosensory roving paradigm?
The mismatch negativity (MMN) has since decades become one of the most prominent phenomena in cognitive neuroscience, recognised as a brain response indexing automatic change-detection. While substant...

New Pre-Print on the influence of electric current stimulation on fMRI signals. Important to be aware of when designing concurrent tDCS-fMRI studies!

New today in @Nature: your visual cortex contains touch-based body maps. bit.ly/VisualBodyMaps Your brain transforms what you see into first-person, body-referenced codes: A previously unknown bridge between vision and touch.

A first review on the #somatosensory MMN—the brain’s surprise signal for #touch. We outline how S1/S2 track probabilities, generate mismatch responses, and that sMMN appears altered across disorders and aging. A window into how the brain learns from #predictive touch. #neuroskyence #neuroscience

The Somatosensory Mismatch Negativity
The somatosensory mismatch negativity (sMMN) is a neural signature of automatic deviance detection, reflecting predictive processing in touch. This review synthesizes human, animal, and computational...

Happy to share our new #decoding study! We show that representations of vibrotactile #WorkingMemory content evolve from #somatosensory to parietal areas. Decoding from left SPL was linked to WM performance — suggesting a key role in maintaining #tactile information.
