Well, I slept for 12 hours. It’s almost 5am. It’s raining here in Kathmandu. Time to charge batteries and organize the camera gear. It cost me over $200 in duties and VAT to bring a drone with me. Luckily if I bring the same drone next year there’s no duty or VAT.

Notheism is a state that predates the invention of gods. The pre-imaginary phase of existence. Is it possible for a generation or two to return to this state? Maybe not. But give it 5 to 10 generations and it’s possible. Humanity may be better off as a result. Until then though, it’s a shit show.

I’m heading to Toronto at Tony’s request to help with the house and the kids after I get back from filming in Nepal. Tony’s brother David is helping him now. Between the two of us and our other friends Tony has all the support he needs. We are there for him as he has always been there for us.

A few days ago I found out my best friend, my brother in all things save name, has esophageal cancer and was in hospital undergoing tests. We’ve been in contact. He’s too weak to talk much. The oncology team are upbeat. He’s on a feeding tube because the tumor makes it impossible to eat.

The visceral response and frame of mind that sees capital punishment as justice is a mindset that refuses to let go of an outdated idea that the death penalty creates closure - it doesn’t. We can more than adequately punish capital crimes through prison sentences without parole and hard labour.

Ooh!! That looks fantastic! When I had a house we kept a garden and grew herbs and several varieties of heritage tomato. It was such a pleasure to pick a fresh tomato, slice it and make a salad or sandwich. There’s something about a sunwarm tomato that improves the flavour. Much nicer than chilled.

We're scheduled to be in the flood affected area to deliver donations from our donors. The monsoon season has, like last year, been heavier than in the past, leading to landslides and washouts. Somehow it works out. We'll get there.

It's just 48 hours until I'm back to Nepal. A couple of projects to work on: - More footage for the documentary. - The community health survey in Namsaling. - A new collaboration with the Dhulikhel Hospital for opening a new clinic. It's going to be a busy month, and I couldn't be happier.

No complaints. Off to Nepal for a month in a week. Travelling light this time. Got a surprise outbreak of shingles; thankfully had the vaccine, so it's not as nasty as it might've been (yay science!). Life is mostly good, even if it is mostly water. How's life over there?
