Legislation necessarily comes from Congress & state legislatures. But ideas will have to come from us. We need to be on the lookout for the good ones and promote them. The problem will come from the mass of crappy ideas to be winnowed out, by people independent of the AI developers selling them.

We really need a single word that denotes the way Susan Collins is so often “concerned” about issues. Politicians like Kennedy show the same combination of concern with no follow-up action.

I hadn’t thought of it that way, but you’re right. And many years ago the Navy installed an obsolete computer in a brand new carrier, to be able to operate in the existing battle group data network without making major changes to the computer code for every ship.
