I want to amend this. I said "the mistake those that harassed Yunayu made was not thinking about where she was coming from." Let me be clear. The true mistake was being vile human beings. I think you're forgetting the overwhelming support she received regarding this incident, a lot of which was telling her the opposite of what you're saying. To a primarily non-English speaking person from the East, that would feel like confirmation that the minority side is wrong.

I won't try to determine where this lack of empathy comes from. Maybe it's from burning out empathy on your friends that are going through a lot, so you don't have any left for the Malfoid on your screen, but try to remember that there's an artist behind that art who only wanted to make you happy.

Too many bsky users repeatedly unable/unwilling to even think someone could be unaware of JKR's beliefs, or possibly be unaware of any other controversial topics. Yet this has been demonstrated to be true on MANY occasions, mostly involving the harassment of Eastern artists over innocent enjoyment.

Regarding the recent Yunayu situation, I think what she experienced, and what many Eastern artists experience, all comes down to a lack of empathy from Westerners. And I do mean empathy. Definitionally, the mistake those that harassed Yunayu made was not thinking about where she was coming from.
