A Deus Ex style cut is great cover, nobody notices a snap behind a camera cut. For the heights, are you thinking separate takedown anims per height class, or IK on the hands so they meet the victim wherever they are?

Ah, that makes sense: a sparse set for scoring and a dense one just for looks. Do you score by distance to the nearest goal point, or does order matter too, so going backwards along the seam counts against you?

Thanks again, it really helped! Zero budget on my side for now, it's just me in the evenings, but I'll keep following your threads.

Those before/after plots are so satisfying, the step in Fy and torque just gone. Was the jump coming from the low-speed switch in the slip definition? Low-Vy slip is the part that always makes wheels jitter at standstill for me.

Water filling the craters you just blasted is lovely cause and effect, that alone justifies a real sim. Are you running it on a grid, cellular-automaton style, or as particles? A grid tends to stay a lot cheaper once whole lakes get involved.

The frog dropping into the camp and leaving that crater is fantastic. For the water one, are you going for a simulated flood or a painted wave that sweeps across? At that camera height a good fake that shoves the goblins along might look better than real fluid.

The bead building up behind the arc already reads really well. Are the blue dots in the editor the weld path you sample along, with a bead piece spawned per point? Curious how you'll keep it from looking like a string of pearls when the hand moves fast.

Perfect, then both camps are happy. On or off by default?

Thanks for taking the time, this is gold. 1b hits home: in a builder the wow moment is your first machine actually moving, and every second of tutorial before that is a tax. Luckily I log my own events, so I can time exactly how long that takes for a fresh player.

Ha, the smallest possible fix, love it. Half the 'physics bugs' I chase turn out to be a collider one size too big. Does the takedown still line up when one of them is standing on a slope?

It plays free in the browser, PC or phone, no install: groundbound.fun/?utm_source=so_bs The loop took me way more tuning than the rocket did.

Every machine here came off the same parts grid: one jumps, one loops, one flies on rotors, one lights up a cave, one shoots, one blows up, and the long one tows the rocket home so you can leave the planet. 28 s of my little physics game. Which would you build first? #indiedev #indiegame #gamedev

Solo dev here. Groundbound is my little 2D physics game: you bolt a machine together from parts and try to get it across an alien planet. Same cart, four places so far. Which one would you drive first? #indiedev #indiegame #gamedev
A small cart with two big purple wheels, an astronaut seat, a motor, a crate and a headlight, parked by a domed base under a huge ringed planet. The same cart climbing a dark cave slope lit by glowing blue crystals, dust trailing behind the wheels.A pink crystal cavern: the cart rolls up to a methane tank pickup while a robot in a hard hat floats in a bubble above.Grey snowy peaks: the cart pulls up to the Wind Tower garage, with a radio mast and a ringed planet in the sky.

I'd keep it for a bullet hell as long as the bullets stay crisp. Scanlines over dense patterns can make the shots harder to read. A strength slider in the options would keep both camps happy.

Names also make bugs searchable. 'The Goblin' in a commit message is a lot easier to find months later than 'fix state issue', right when it comes back for its fourth patch.

Useful thread. Median playtime as the main signal makes sense. Do you also look at where people drop out? A demo that loses most players in the first five minutes feels like a different problem from one they finish and still don't wishlist.

Greyboxing first is the right call, and that pool of light on the floor already feels uneasy. Worth locking the character's walk speed and capsule size early, before building rooms, so doors and corridors don't need resizing later. Good luck with the lab!

Classic capsule-on-capsule standoff. Did you end up switching collision off between the two for the takedown, or snapping the victim to a sync point? Curious which one behaves better once co-op replication is involved.

Getting across the acid took 7 attempts. The first cart just dissolved. Attempt 2 put a Fart Jet on the nose and flipped straight in. Attempt 7 finally listened to the tutorial: jets under the machine, not on the side. #indiedev #indiegame #gamedev
