YEP. And turns out it IS against kickstarter rules!

Screenshot from Kickstarter ToS that reads "Don’t spam. Don’t distribute unsolicited or unauthorized advertising, marketing or promotional material, or any junk mail, spam, or chain letters. Don’t run mail lists, listservs, or any kind of auto-responder or spam on or through the Site, including in comments you post to projects you back."

120

Grimm 🏳️‍🌈✨ @grimmsilly.bsky.social · 31/07/2026

Yeah so the kickstarter wording is quite clear, project updates are for that project only, and consent only applies to those notifications. If I wanted updates from other projects from Oni, there is a separate option; with separate consent. Probably breaks ToS *and* EU ad/privacy laws </3

Screenshot showing the Kickstarter notifications panel.

The section is titled "Projects you've backed and followed".
The sub-category titled "Project updates" shows a list of backed projects, including the Murder Drones graphic novel, with notifications enabled.
A sub-category below it shows a separate option for "New projects from creators you've backed", for which notifications are unchecked.

Not a day goes by without me thinking of @deeowlbrainrot.bsky.social 's stunning fic 'Kintsugi Cores', so of course I had to draw a piece inspired by it,, So soft and very gay, it's my favourite vizzy fic out there 🧡 🩷 archiveofourown.org/works/65161285 💛 -- #murderdrones #pinklemonade #vizzy #art

An illustration of @deeowlbrainrot.bsky.social 's Murder Drones fanfiction, 'Kintsugi Cores'. V and Lizzy are laying next to each other from opposite directions, with one of their hands resting on the other's chest. Their chests show glowing cracks of their colours around where the hands touch them, just like a kintsugi pattern. There are several star shaped fairy lights reflected on them from above, while the two are looking at the other longingly. The whole scene is dim, lit by only their LED glows, V's tail canister, chest lights, and visors reflecting.
In the bottom left corner there is a note from the fic with the text "HAD TO GO ON OIL RUN. DIDN’T WANT TO WAKE YOU, YOU LOOKED CUTE. SEE YOU AT SCHOOL. <3 - V"
