Passenger pigeon flocks! The flocks could be tens of millions of birds, and there are reports of them flying overhead for *days*.

Well, that's a wrap for Rec Room. 10 years to the day after launching on Steam, we turned off the servers. Highest concurrency in years, but the servers held! And our Steam reviews were "Overwhelmingly Positive" for our last day =]

I am a paying customer
A screenshot of a New York Times article (headline "New Yorkers to World Cup Fans: Please Don’t Walk to MetLife") on their desktop website (Safari/MacOS). I've added shading to show that roughly 2/3rds of the page is covered by ads and upsells

In the foreground we see three male golfers in shorts and t-shirts playing golf on a nicely-maintained green golf course. In the background a giant forest fire blazes, consuming an entire tree-covered hillside. The golfers are completely ignoring the raging fire.

A close up picture of a magnificent rooster in a sunlit garden in South Hobart, Tasmania, Australia. He feathers are mostly black (chest and tail) and orange gold (neck, back and wings). His wattle and crest are a rich red. He looks robust and healthy. You can't see this in the picture but his name is "Butch" and it suits him

This was really fun! dialed.gg How good are you at remembering colors? I bet not as good as you think =]
Screenshot of final score screen from "Color Game". My score is 43.15 out of a possible 50. I ranked 1,288,660 out of 1,585,923. The comment from the game on my score is: "Genuinely unsettling accuracy. Please find a hobby"

D'Angelo on Instagram Live
D'Angelo is performing in an indoor studio. He is singing into a microphone and gesturing with the other hand. He's wearing a large black fur coat and a wide brim hat. The room is decorated with a large patterned rug, with candles arranged on the floor. A DJ and various instruments are visible in the background.

Chappell Roan can provide the sound track!
Screenshot of New York Times headline: "Chappell Roan Leaves Wasserman Agency After Founder Appears in Epstein Files." Subhead: "Casey Wasserman, who founded and leads the talent agency bearing his name, exchanged flirtatious emails with Ghislaine Maxwell in the early 2000s". Beneath that is a photo of Chappel Roan at the Grammys, looking every inch the pop star. She is staring at the camera with a serious expression, long dark red hair, heavy makeup, the color of her blouse matches her hair.

These pictures are incredible
Wind turbines seen beyond the Ming Dynasty Huguo Temple in Guizhou Province.

It looks like a painting. The temple is silhouetted against distant mountains. The wind turbines are arrayed along the mountain tops.

Kendrick Lamar in Glasgow
A wide shot of the interior crowded arena-style concert hall. The ambient light is blue. The focal point is a huge white light projection of a human figure, caught mid-performance with left harm outstretched. If you look close, you can see the actual performer in the same pose, tiny at the feet of the projection.

The article says it is:
Screenshot of paragraph from linked NYT article. Text is:

In American Giant, Underdog found a partner that was capable of producing the whole garment, including the fabric, here in the United States.
The cotton was harvested and finished in the Southeast, including in North Carolina. The garments themselves were produced in Los Angeles.

Our installation at Burning Man last year
An arched wooden bridge on a flat desert plain silhouetted with the setting sun behind it. The bridge casts long, dramatic shadows towards the camera. The bridge has sticks and shapes protruding up from it - if you squint, you might be able to tell that these are part of the art installation. They are birds lifting the bridge in ropes. Various people are standing around and under the bridge, also in silhouette.

Done:
Graph titled "Nostalgia tends to peak at a single age"

There are thirteen questions ranging from "When were families happiest" to "when was the best music" and to a good approximation the responses all peak at "when I was a child or young adult"

Top three game of all time for me This is my laptop 🚀🏕️
Open Mac laptop, showing the lid. An "Outer Wilds" sticker is the only sticker on the lid, right in the middle (covering the Apple logo). The triangular sticker shows a spaceship lifting off from tiny planet decorated with a campfire and trees in a cartoon style.

Remember Melania's 2017 White House xmas decorations?
A photo of a corridor in the White House. The corridor is lined with tall, sticklike potted shrubs that are harshly lit with very bright white flood lights. They cast a spooky shadow on the ceiling. Lanterns hang from the ceiling and cast an orange glow. The overall effect is chilling, monochrome and very off-putting. There are no traditional xmas decorations of any kind.

You are really overselling it. It's not "images" and certainly not stereoscopic (i.e., immersive) images. It a tiny, monochrome (red only), very low resolution display in your right eye only. And it is no more "projected into your brain" than the light bouncing off a Coke can.
Screen shot of paragraph from linked article that explains how underwhelming the tech actually is: "That laser shines a red, monochrome image somewhere in the neighborhood of 400 x 150 pixels onto a holographic reflector on the glasses’ right lens."
