There’s a Greek and Middle East fast food joint near me, and sometimes I crave that. I went today and the prices, wow, I can’t justify 50 bucks for to veggie plates at a fast food joint. This is worrisome

There are just so many fruit and nut trees in Portland that just don’t get picked, I came from a pecan, pronounce that puh cahn and dewberry picking background that I just can’t. I got a whole bag of apples and another of chestnuts today.

I’m a rice guy, I grew up within a bike ride, a long one but still, from the konriko rice mill. I have my preferences, long grain and sticky. And here I am still trying to get used to cooking brown rice.

I’m trying to get more omega 3s in my diet without pills so I’m doing tinned fish. I’m a couple of months I went from ew gross greasy canned minnows to im looking forward to this because I acquired the damn taste.

If you have very ripe late season tomatoes right now, here is how to get a jar of happy. Dehydrate tomato slices in the oven, pack dried slices into a prepared jar with a sprig of oregano and rosemary, cover in decent olive oil and stick it in the fridge and enjoy as needed.

I’m over 50 now, time comes for us all, and the only jobs I’ve ever had that were remotely fulfilling paid starvation wages. At this point I just want a job that I don’t actively hate, but keeps a roof over my head.

Air quality in Portland was horrible today. I may have to leave for a bit because these asthma damaged lungs aren’t going to handle much more of this. I left New Orleans to get away from evacuations, I guess nowhere is safe. I hate fossil fuels.

Every once in a while I do a very old style down the bayou no flour roux with vegetables only. Tonight I’m doing one. Paul Prudhomme’s first cookbook is how you do it.
