A high key edit of a Peregrine Falcon (Falco peregrinus) I photographed in the very early morning at Booderee National Park over the Easter long weekend Get up early folks, the birds don't wait! #birdphotograohy #birds #birdconservation
A high key edit (bright highlights and lighter contrasted gets and mid-greys) of a Peregrine Falcon staring at the photographer. It is sitting in a forked branch of a dead tree, waiting for its opportunity to hunt while surveying the area.

A Chestnut Teal drake from St George's Basin near Jervis Bay, NSW. #birdphotography #birdconservation #birds
An iridescent green headed chestnut teal drake with a bright piercing red eye stares at me in warm afternoon autumn light. The Chestnut Teal is a type of duck that has a rusty brown body and a dark green head that reflects in the light. The female is a duller brown grey colour and lacks the green head.

Yellow-faced Honeyeater ( Caligavis chrysops) at Winda Woppa near Hawks Nest, NSW. Huge flocks of these small to medium sized honeyeaters are currently moving north up the east coast of Australia to warm out the southern winter temps. #birds #birdphotography #birdconservation #conservationbiology

Bird of the week Eastern Whipbird (Psophodes olivaceus) This was my nemesis bird in bird photography. One afternoon in an urban Sydney wildlife reserve my daughter grabbed my arm and pointed "there he is" and I got one single frame. It was enough. #birds #birdphotography #birdconservation 🪶 🦉
An Australian eastern whipbird caught on camera momentarily as it pauses briefly before disappearing into the scrub. Olive green, black and white face and a small black erect crest with an iconic whip crack call where it gets its name.

Let's talk about the importance of regional and seasonal flowering native plants like this Eucalypt as an important food source for many species of insect and animal pollinators, like this Rainbow Lorikeet (Trichoglossus moluccanus) #birds #birdphotography #birdconservation 🪶
A rainbow Lorikeet (a multicoloured parrot from Australia) feeds on the nectar of a Eucalypt. The flowers are so dense that the bird is almost completely obscured.
