At the same time, today's youngest adults are at least as religious - if not moreso - than the second youngest adults. But this isn't the first time we've seen this pattern, with young people entering adulthood just as religious as their predecessors before gradually diverging. pewrsr.ch/4pKHIC7

In the new Religious Landscape Study, women are more religious than men, on average. But the gender gap shows signs of narrowing. It's a bit smaller now than before, and it's smaller among young adults than among older people. pewrsr.ch/4inD0X8

In big 2022 @pewresearch.org survey about religion & environment, we found most highly religious people believe the Earth is sacred and God gave humans responsibility of caring for it. But most don't think climate change is very serious problem. Much more: pewrsr.ch/3OeDH7u

It's admittedly a bit dated, but we did a survey in 2015 that asked Catholics whether the Church should or should not recognize the marriages of same sex couples. 46% said yes, 46% no, 8% no opinion. pewrsr.ch/1ieOVsn

Just last year, 57% of U.S. Catholics said global climate change is an extremely serious or very serious problem. Among Catholic Democrats, it was 82%. Among Catholic Republicans, it was 25%. Much more detail: pewrsr.ch/466a80b

Like the public overall, Catholics are deeply divided along party lines in their views re: climate change. For example, 70% of Catholic Democrats say the Earth is getting warmer because of human activity. Among Catholic Republicans, 18% say this. pewrsr.ch/466a80b
