Recovering from 30+ years as a litigator, consumed with hatred for Trump to an unhealthy degree

Called it yesterday: FTR, Gov Hochul appointing Letitia James as special prosecutor in the Cornell case guarantees that Trump and Linda McMahon will wade and ignite controversy. And yes, I know neither has any business meddling in state criminal matters.

Don’t you mean ”America Hawkeyes”?

I will repeat: I hate Netanyahu, and his earlier statements about 9/11 bringing the US closer to Israel were nauseating. But he did NOT express the sentiment that America deserved 9/11 yesterday, he disparagingly quoted an enemy of his saying that. It does nobody any good to misrepresent this.

Btw, I did read other posts in this thread and they overwhelmingly reflected the misimpression that N had actually asserted the US deserved 9/11. So the entire thread is a demonstration of the ability to mislead people, and the tendency of sheep to swallow anything that fits their preconceptions.

Hasan Piker said it, and doubled down on it. That he claimed America’s foreign policy subjected it to a horrific terrorist attack and therefore the attack was somehow justified only goes to show he is wretched. That said, N was clearly taken out of context and there is no defense.

You have a brain, try using it. Or let me save you the trouble. Addressing Mamdani, Netanyahu said: “You praised criminals convicted of supporting Hamas. You count as friends people like Hassan Piker, who said America deserved 9/11. “America deserved 9/11. Some friends you have.”

I hate Netanyahu, but this is an outrageous distortion taking his words completely out of context. He was quoting Hasan Piker, who he called a friend of Mamdani, as saying “America deserved 9/11” — and then saying to Mamdani “Some friends you have.” Shame on you.

I am having a real emotional problem with Trump in particular saying “Sept. 11 reminded us of the terrible power of hate.”

Fair enough. And if you‘re a trans person insisting that limiting girls and women’s sports to people who are biologically female is a big problem, I would say that not only is it an insignificant problem but it is counterproductive to far bigger issues you should realize are more important.

This gives me a rare opportunity to trot out a thought I had in the hospital 4 years ago: Q: What’s the collective noun for a group of neurologists (or, I guess, neurosurgeons)? A: A ganglia.

After a week I have obviously removed the cash and put it in an investment account. Of course I would take a 50% chance to get another $1 million for an empty briefcase.

House Committee on Un-American Activities chairman Martin Dies called him a Communist, and Stout is reputed to have said to him, "I hate Communists as much as you do, Martin, but there's one difference between us. I know what a Communist is and you don't."[13] [From Wikipedia entry on Rex Stout].

Re Trump’s obsession with calling his enemies “communists”, I remembered a quote from Rex Stout testifying to House Unamerican Activities Committee chairman Martin Dies: “I hate Communists as much as you do, Martin, but there's one difference between us. I know what a Communist is and you don't."

The pilot reached into his draw for something to swat the bats with and found a Book of Mormon. The bats started laughing their heads off, but one managed to get off a bite before the book dissolved. A spokesman for Marriott said the gentile had it coming.

You might also want to consider Kavanaugh’s impassioned plea that the Constitution “is an enduring document“ that must be interpreted in light of “modern situations that were unknown or unanticipated by the Constitution’s Framers” — like, maybe, automatic weapons?

I can’t say you’re wrong about what will be argued and might be decided, but either would be analytically wrong. And as someone who thinks it obvious that open market transactions by definition are FMV, I think it nonsensical to challenge them as the best evidence of value.
