It's a good thing they're turning their nuclear plants back on.

Apparently that is a risky business in Germany.

Exactly why they want to kick them off. It will make the plans even less viable.

This is Vance’s second trip to Maine to campaign for Susan Collins. And yet, both times Collins was “unable to attend” his events. I wonder why Susan Collins won’t get on a stage with Trump or Vance in Maine?

He was impeached for being corrupt. His own office of lawyers resigned en masse because they thought he was a criminal. He was under federal indictment until Trump dropped the case. Did he think he could run for Senate and just…. Not have to talk about that stuff?

David, what are you doing? Can you point to the "power outage" on this graph of nuclear generation?

“Loitering is not permitted in this area. Please proceed to a designated location. Thank you for your cooperation,” a surveillance machine tells a small cluster of National Guard members as they patrol the fenced off Reflecting Pool in the rain.

And would you still want that salted onto crop land? :)

Is it OK to discuss reality, though? Particles of solar panels being salted onto farm land? Stuff like that? Or should we just close our eyes?

LeCun's AMI Labs Raises $30M to Beat LLMs [2026]
Yann LeCun's AMI Labs just closed a $30M seed round to build world models that could replace LLMs. Here's why Meta's chief AI scientist thinks reasoning without language is the future.

"The writer has to live in three perspectives, three competing, subjective agendas, all at the same time." World models. Yan LeCun, former AI scientist at Meta, has argued that a lack of world models is why LLMs aren't solving the problem you're describing. He started up a company to try.

You're. Just link to the comment where you claim I said the installation doesn't exist. It's easy. If what you say is my "original claim" actually exists. Just go back in the comment chain, find it, and link it. Easy.

Greg Barton @gregorybarton.bsky.social · 29/04/2026
I'm not denying what you claim I deny. That's your strawman. Please link to any comment where I claim the installation does not exist.

Greg Barton @gregorybarton.bsky.social · 29/04/2026
"Then you admit it exists." Accuse use of strawman argument then use it. Excellent propaganda. Then accuse conspiratorial thinking. Where did you learn these techniques? :)
100
Greg Barton @gregorybarton.bsky.social · 29/04/2026
Sure, the installation exists. (That's your strawman argument. Good try.) You just unquestioningly trust the capabilities claimed are accurate.
100
Greg Barton @gregorybarton.bsky.social · 29/04/2026
So you just trust anything an article says. I guess if it's on the internet it's totally true, right? :)
100
Greg Barton @gregorybarton.bsky.social · 29/04/2026
It's not a strawman to point out your lack of verified claims.
100
Greg Barton @gregorybarton.bsky.social · 29/04/2026
The "with basically no access to fossil fuels" is unverified. But I guess you completely trust the claims of any military or corporate source, so you're fine with it. :)
100
Greg Barton @gregorybarton.bsky.social · 29/04/2026
So "overwhelming" that you can only point to a small installation with no data to back up its claims.
100
Greg Barton @gregorybarton.bsky.social · 29/04/2026
What counter evidence do you think is necessary? When you claim a solution will work its up to you to prove your claim, not me.

Greg Barton @gregorybarton.bsky.social · 29/04/2026

They claim a demonstration. Do they provide generation data so they can be accountable to their claims?
100
Greg Barton @gregorybarton.bsky.social · 28/04/2026
So there's a zero emissions grid somewhere that runs on wind/solar/storage/hydrogen which demonstrates this 24x7x365? You know, a real demonstration you can point to?

Greg Barton @gregorybarton.bsky.social · 28/04/2026
Ah, so the ideology of renewables don't match the economics? I thought they were supposed to be cheaper than everything. :)

Greg Barton @gregorybarton.bsky.social · 28/04/2026
So why isn’t that their goal?
100
Greg Barton @gregorybarton.bsky.social · 28/04/2026
So microgrids can’t accomplish this, but national scale grids are supposed to accomplish this?
100
Greg Barton @gregorybarton.bsky.social · 28/04/2026
Yeah, I’m all for disrupting fossil fuels.

Greg Barton @gregorybarton.bsky.social · 28/04/2026
Cool, is there any data to verify that the diesel generator is never used for backup?
100
Greg Barton @gregorybarton.bsky.social · 28/04/2026
Where? Provide links.

Greg Barton @gregorybarton.bsky.social · 28/04/2026
No, we should not be burning oil or natural gas.
000
Greg Barton @gregorybarton.bsky.social · 28/04/2026
Ah. Is there a grid anywhere that runs on this? wind/solar/storage/hydrogen running 24x7x365?
200
Greg Barton @gregorybarton.bsky.social · 28/04/2026
Also, when generation sources make too much electricity when it's not needed that leads to negative prices. That means generators must pay customers to get rid of the electricity. It's not sustainable.
100
Greg Barton @gregorybarton.bsky.social · 28/04/2026
Oh, so the waste from wind and solar is also expanding exponentially?
200
Greg Barton @gregorybarton.bsky.social · 28/04/2026
So you want to give Putin the ability to decide how countries generate electricity? Good to know.
