Spending the weekend (plus a bit) in Lake Tahoe for the first time in FAR too long (plus showing wee man his first snow in his 3¾ years) and got to the car after tubing to see this majestic Red-Tailed Hawk just… chilling out. 10 feet from my head. Beautiful.

My opinion of the current tech bs around “masculinity” can be summed up very effectively by this comic.
Comic pointing out that Zuckerberg’s “more masculine energy” remarks do not mean he wants a mature definition where powerful men use their strength to uplift & care for those with less, but a childish definition where they can be aggressive & cause harm with no repercussions

I live at ~1050ft above sea level. On a hill behind another large hill. If a tsunami is actually a concern for me here there are MUCH larger problems about to happen. Like the asteroid that caused it wiping out life as we know it.

Welcome to a new episode of… What Is This Bullshit In Gregory’s Garage?!? Today we have this 1964, limited edition, Jim Beam decanter! Why you ask? Because it was used to make the lamp in “I Dream of Jeanie”! I got decision paralysis on which design to go for, which is why it’s still untouched 😓
The original 1964 bottle with examples of how they painted its smoky green glass with gold paint to make it look more ornate & antique (on the left) and when the show switched to color they painted it the more… eye wateringly colorful pink/purple design (on the right).

Occasionally I like to play a game of What Is This Bullshit In Gregory’s Garage?!? This weeks contestant is a replica of The Map, from Time Bandits. Made by a Python, produced by a Beatle, starring a dwarven cast rivaled only by Williow, & one of its main stars was R2D2. My god I love that movie.
The Map, folded, showing the clocks along its edge & the space/time/zodiac design of the map. White canvas with full color, though mostly blue & black, printing. In general tho: she SINGS. The resonance of a semi hollow is definitely there. Pots are good, pickups are a bit hot but decent, etc. Very minor finish blemishes, but that’s to be expected. Here’s an example on the edge of the (rather nice) binding:

I’ve wanted a ‘60s Cherry Gibson ES-345 since before I knew what that was. Why? Two words: Marty McFly. Yes, that’s right. Back to the Future. I’ll need to make a few additions (a Bigsby vibrato, the pick guard, add a Varitone, knobs), plus some fret cleanup, but… 😍

So… I couldn’t pass up this *steal* of a guitar. This ISN’T a 60s Gibson ES345—because I don’t have $10-20k to spare—but it is in that style. It’s a Korean company called Firefly that makes really incredible—but cheap!—guitars in the same style. It’s not identical, but still. It’s mine. All mine.

Thankfully, while the air quality will still suck, the fact it’s orange means it’s mostly higher up in the air, mostly. I’m hoping Seattle doesn’t get it much worse. It sucked here in NorCal in 2020. This photo was taken ~10am in Berkeley:
