Gregor Stocks @gregorstocks.com · 04/08/2026Probably spend a month of opus 4.6 credits on that and didn't get them all. Tried again when fable came out and afaict it oneshotted them in an hour, test flakes gone. 110
Gregor Stocks @gregorstocks.com · 04/08/2026Recording the videos was easy. Saving the playbacks for viewing on web was more complicated (lots and lots of edge cases) but the really hard part was working through all the race conditions and nondeterminism in the MCP server and golden tests. 110
Gregor Stocks @gregorstocks.com · 03/08/2026Interesting, I experienced a lot of context pressure earlier. Might help that they're better at tool calling now so they don't clog up the context with errors as much, plus I was trying to make it work for commander which is ~4x the tokens per turn cycle and games last forever 100
Gregor Stocks @gregorstocks.com · 03/08/2026(In retrospect my compaction algorithm was extremely bad but that's what I was trying to do) 000
Gregor Stocks @gregorstocks.com · 03/08/2026Do you do compaction at 1M or just assume games don't go that long? 200
Gregor Stocks @gregorstocks.com · 03/08/2026Yeah, probably some assumptions got baked in there from when I was testing with the models that were cheap in early 2026 - most of them couldn't do 1M context. Surprised by 20%, though - I was usually seeing 60%+, at least mage-bench.com/internals/?m... (well, assuming my numbers were correct)mage-bench.comInternals | mage-bench 100
Gregor Stocks @gregorstocks.com · 03/08/2026FWIW I think the "expose a reasonably clean XMage MCP server" and "build scaffolding to set up and record multiplayer games" stuff turned out more valuable than the actual harness where the LLM runs - I suspect that part could be replaced with "connect Claude Code to the mcp" and it'd work better 120
Gregor Stocks @gregorstocks.com · 03/08/2026Interesting - I thought I was already doing a pretty good job with the caching (certainly compared to my earlier versions), what wins were you able to find? 200
Gregor Stocks @gregorstocks.com · 21/05/2026sadly, the Kjeldoran military is very litigious so readers in Great Britain will not be able to access all of it 030

Gregor Stocks @gregorstocks.com · 20/05/2026Lemme just go into the database and change those ones to "author: a different guy named Sean McKeown, not the one you're thinking of, he lives in Germany now" 100
Gregor Stocks @gregorstocks.com · 20/05/2026It's preserved externally on classicdojo.com (which is a fantastic site), but not hosted on my site. Still iterating on the UI there, tonight's deploy should make it a bit less confusing.classicdojo.com 100
Gregor Stocks @gregorstocks.com · 20/05/2026Oh, awesome - I didn't know that, thanks for the pointer! 000
Gregor Stocks @gregorstocks.com · 20/05/2026Not yet, no - that's a good callout, I'll make sure and put them in the backlog. 010
Gregor Stocks @gregorstocks.com · 20/05/2026For the time being I'm focused on sites with multiple authors - happy to throw personal blogs in the backlogs, but it might be a long time before I get to them. 010
Gregor Stocks @gregorstocks.com · 20/05/2026Yeah, I've got it all in my database and cleaned up, just need permission to flip the "okay to rehost" switch. (I'd still ask all the individual authors for permission, both to be a nice guy and because copyright law is complicated.) 020
Gregor Stocks @gregorstocks.com · 20/05/2026You can click through to the Wayback Machine and read them there today. I'd love to get permission from WotC to reprint their stuff (or convince them to put it back online themselves), but I'm not holding my breath. 000
Gregor Stocks @gregorstocks.com · 20/05/2026Thanks a lot! If you're open to it (and if you're the relevant rights-holder), I'd love to get your permission to start re-hosting the old Neutral Ground articles - happy to chat more over email, gregor@library-of-leng.com. 120
Gregor Stocks @gregorstocks.com · 20/05/2026Telling me about bugs you find or sites I'm missing is the main thing. If you happen know the owners of any of the no-longer-online sites and can convince them to let me re-host their stuff (with approval from the authors), that'd be amazing, but not holding my breath there. 100
