I do like the "self-reflection" that chatgpt comes up with at times: "And yes — I should have suggested that route earlier. It’s considerably easier than going straight to the REST API for this kind of troubleshooting." Normally I only see that asking but this was unprompted in a separate response

New SiimpleTalk article that I wrote on corporate cybersecurity training and how most of it is a complete waste, and worse, consumes "training" budgets: www.red-gate.com/simple-talk/...

Cybersecurity training doesn't work - here's why
Research shows cybersecurity training rarely changes behavior or stops phishing. Here's why compliance courses fail - and what actually reduces risk instead.

Might also work somewhat if the source was already an analytic system but they rarely are. Adding a few system generated columns would make it much better for incremental loading, which you need for any sizable system where the data needs transformation.

Mirroring isn't a great solution, at least until it provides an easy way to determine which data has changed. It could be a good solution, with some enhancements. Until then, it's suitable for people building DirectLake solutions directly on transactional data structures (bad) or toy sized systems.

I wish there was consistency in the naming in the UI. Half the time it's just "Warehouse" now, but often it still says "Data Warehouse". When you create one, it says "Warehouse" so that's what I'm running with at present :-)

First day touring we both jumped on a day tour group. Was 600 yuan each, so 1200 total, and it was a hectic rush with 24 people on the tour. Second day we paid 1500 and got a towncar, driver, and personal tour guide. Magnificent. Glad the hotel told us to try that.

We hired a private guide and towncar for the day (fabulous option) but he spent the whole time worried we might trip on the surface. I got the impression he thought he'd be in trouble if we had a problem.

Until going there, it hadn't dawned on me how uneven the surface of most sections is. I thought generations of people walking on it would have flattened it out a bit.
