Two more candidates have qualified for Louisiana's congressional races as Day 2 draws to an end. Oscar "Omar" Dantzler of Hammond will run again for the 5th District. He lost to Julia Letlow in 2022 as a Democrat and is now running as a Republican. (1/2)

U.S. Rep. Clay Higgins has drawn his first challenger for the 3rd Congressional District. Lafayette attorney Priscilla Gonzalez, a Democrat, is taking another shot at the seat after finishing a distant second (19%) against Higgins and two other candidates in 2024.

Lindsay Garcia, who initially ran for the 5th District as the La. Democratic Party-endorsed candidate, has qualified to run in the 6th District. She says she expects to have the party's endorsement this time, too.

Some takeaways from today's election: Voters in Gov. Landry's native parish, St. Landry, and current home parish, Lafayette, rejected all four amendments with 60% or more them opposed. The loss in Lafayette is more notable because its the state's 5th largest in population
