Inside every tree is a timeline. What looks like a simple pattern of rings is actually a living archive recording fire, drought, insect outbreaks, saltwater intrusion, and shifting climate year by year. Through dendrochronology, scientists can read centuries of ecological change written in wood.

New work: Congresswoman Sarah McBride for The New Republic. “I didn’t run for the United States House of Representatives to talk about what bathroom I use,” McBride told host Margaret Brennan. “I didn’t run to talk about myself.” She ran, she said, to “deliver for Delawareans”

Dressed as Edgar Allan Poe, David Keltz sits at his usual table in Baltimore’s Annabel Lee Tavern, reflecting on 30+ years portraying the literary icon. “I read my first Poe story at 13 and knew I wanted to be an actor,” says Keltz, now 79.

At 76, Manny Rechthand holds 12 American powerlifting records in his age and weight class. “I don’t know how many years I have left, but I wasn’t going to spend them chasing money, big cars, and a fancy house.” he says.
