This is appalling. These Haitians were here legally under the Temporary Protected Status (TPS) program. The Trump regime spread racist lies, ended the program, declared them illegal and rounded them up in chains for deportation. Now DHS is proudly posting videos of Black Haitians in chains.

My statement on Trump’s threat to take away DC’s home rule if we don’t vote the way he wants. Only DC voters should decide their elected leaders. Not Trump. Not Congress.
For Immediate Release June 11, 2026
Greg Jaczko on The President’s threat to DC Home Rule

Today the President threatened to strip DC of home rule because he doesn’t like who its residents might elect mayor. That is an attack on democracy, and it should be an affront to every American.

More than 700,000 people live in this city. We pay federal taxes. We serve in the military. And the President is telling us that if we don’t vote how he wants, he’ll take our self-government away. If it can happen to DC, it can happen anywhere, and every American should be alarmed by it.

Let’s be clear about the facts: the President cannot do this on his own. Ending DC’s home rule would take an act of Congress. He has no authority to do this himself. He is using an empty threat to intimidate voters from casting their ballot.

DC voters decide who leads DC. Not Donald Trump. The people who live here do.

I’m running to represent this city in Congress, and I will not stay quiet while a President tries to override an election.
