I am playing the world's tiniest violin for the people at Apple who were told that they had to build the entire proposal before they could get it approved. The number of times we developers have heard this same thing from App Review is too high to count. mastodon.social/@daringfireba...

Gee, that's a nice app you got there. It would be a shame if we had to take it down because it's not getting enough downloads. Have you tried App Store Search Ads?

My first Deep Dish Swift was such a great experience. I am again reminded how friendly and interesting iOS/Apple/Swift folks are. I had so many great conversations with new and old friends in such a short time. Thanks so much to @joshdholtz.com and Kari for organizing it!

My final #BuildInPublic post this week is an app that I think has the most potential. This is just an MVP, but with some polishing, I think it could be ready to release soon. I like to this of this app as "Claude Code meets Icon Composer".

My 3rd #BuildInPublic post this week might be a bit more boring than the others. It is a unique navigation app that I made for myself to scratch a very specific itch that I don't think most people have, so it isn't likely I will release it.

Greg Gardner @gregggreg.bsky.social · 18/03/2026

For my second #BuildInPublic post, I have an app that is actually done, but will probably never be released. To explain why, I will start by telling you about an app called WalkStar I released just over a year ago. It plays music, but only when you are walking. If you stop, the music stops.

Greg Gardner @gregggreg.bsky.social · 17/03/2026

For my first #BuildInPublic post, I have a fun one. What if you could have your own personal DJ that spins tracks for you based on how you were feeling at the moment, with minimal fuss? Just mention a mood, genre, vibe, whatever, and the music starts playing. Be sure to watch with the volume on.

Hi. I'm Greg, an indie developer from San Francisco. I've released over 20 iOS and Mac apps in the last 12+ years. Since I'm a naturally introverted Gen-Xer, I've never tried this #BuildInPublic thing. But marketing has always been my Achilles' heel, so what the heck.

The preview shown before you watch a show on Apple TV+ is the same F1 Movie ad every single time for the last month or so. It's gotten to the point where I sigh and say "Hi Sonny" every time I hit the play button.

Have any other developers received questions like this yet?

Screenshot from a support request asking "when will you be releasing a new updated version that fits nicely with the ios26 update?" on July 1, just a few weeks since the first iOS 26 beta was released.

I'm sure lawyers in Cupertino are currently gearing up for all of the class action lawsuits on behalf of iPhone 16 users for all of the Apple Intelligence ads for features that won't be out until after the iPhone 17 is available. I look forward to my $5 payout 7 years from now.

Hello fellow indies. My latest app is now available in the App Store! 🎉 WalkStar is the first app to motivate you to move by only playing music when you walk or run. If you stop, the music stops, so keep moving to continue the grooving. Let me know what you think. apps.apple.com/us/app/walks...

I wonder if Apple regrets sending me these surverys?

A screenshot of my feedback to Apple from the Developer Feedback Survey where they ask "What could be done to improve the developer feedback process for you?" and I respond with "It would be better if it didn't feel like screaming into a black hole. Any sort of response would be great, but 99% of the time when filing feedback on iOS frameworks I get no response ever. When I get a response for iOS framework feedback, I stop everything I'm doing and bake a cake and invite all of my friends over for a huge party. I would like to have more parties."

Apologies for the BlueSky newbie question, but is there any way to get the iOS app to not scroll to the top of my Following feed when it refreshes? It's kind of a deal breaker for me after years of being used to twitter and mastodon and not wanting to lose my place.
