Excerpt from Marx’s and Engels’s “The German Ideology”:

The Illusions of German Ideology

As we hear from German ideologists, Germany has in the last few years gone through an unparalleled revolution. The decomposition of the Hegelian philosophy, which began with Strauss, has developed into a universal ferment into which all the “powers of the past” are swept. In the general chaos mighty empires have arisen only to meet with immediate doom, heroes have emerged momentarily only to be hurled back into obscurity by bolder and stronger rivals. It was a revolution beside which the French Revolution was child’s play, a world struggle beside which the struggles of the Diadochi [successors of Alexander the Great] appear insignificant. Principles ousted one another, heroes of the mind overthrew each other with unheard-of rapidity, and in the three years 1842-45 more of the past was swept away in Germany than at other times in three centuries.
All this is supposed to have taken place in the realm of pure thought.
Certainly it is an interesting event we are dealing with: the putrescence of the absolute spirit.

Perhaps I am wrong, but I can only think of two ways this can be done: (1) giving away your secure credentials by just typing them into third party software; or (2) linking a third party application through Canvas, which your instructor and/or IT department will be able to detect.

How does Einstein access my Canvas?
You link your Canvas account once during setup. Einstein uses your credentials to log in, view assignments, and submit work on your behalf.

I, for one, think it is very cool that an Italian-American was a formative theoretician of American republicanism. (From Hammersley’s ‘Republicanism: An Introduction’)

In late eighteenth-century North America as elsewhere, practical political experiences prompted reflection on political ideas. The rejection of British rule that was announced by the Declaration of Independence in July 1776, fought for during the War of Independence that followed, and cemented by the development and establishmen: first of the state constitutions and then, in 1787, of the Constitution of the United States of America generated much debate both in America and beyond. Few American revolutionaries were more prolific in their political thinking than the man who would become the second president of the United States: John Adams (1735-1826). His ‘A Defence of the Constitutions of the United States of America’ (1787) epitomised this merging of the theoretical and the practical. Not only did it draw on both political thought and practical experience, but it used historical examples to identify the most appropriate model for new constitutions at both state and federal levels.
Adams's deep thinking on the nature of republican government led him to eschew any simple conception of the form. Part of the point of his survey of republican models, past and present, factual and fictitious, was to demonstrate that all republics are not the same, and his findings implied that in practice Cicero's equation of good government with republican government did not hold […]

I often find Arendt’s more pithy observations more relevant than her more well-known works.
Photo of a very short Arendt text:

WAR CRIMES AND THE AMERICAN CONSCIENCE
I know that the war in Vietnam is not the first and will not be the last undeclared war. But I think it is possible to overlook an important point: When a nation declares war, it implies that it is prepared to play the game according to the rules. Since the beginning of this century there have been attempts to lay down certain laws for war. By not declaring war, a nation manages to evade even these feeble limitations.

John Adams, on the Boston Massacre:
As the Evidence was, the Verdict of the Jury was exactly right. This however is no Reason why the Town should not call the Action of that Night a Massacre, nor is it any Argument in favour of the Governor or Minister, who caused them to be sent here. But it is the strongest Proofs of the Danger of Standing Armies.

Lol I cheated my whole way through college before ChatGPT. The learning environment is wildly outdated, uninspiring, and non-retentive (meaning you remember info for a test/to hit marks, then it's gone be you have no true life experience to even stick it to yet). And now, all that time and money spent in college doesn't even guarantee you a job at the end of it. These are the issues at the forefront imo
