Advertisers, please, I'm begging you: STOP USING THE RING DOORBELL SOUND EFFECT IN YOUR COMMERCIALS. I just want to watch TV in peace without having to dive for the remote to press mute before those infernal artificial bells send my nutso dog into a five minute frenzy!

Nothing like helping with phonics homework to remind you how confusing English is as a language. He has to sight read "no" and "to". But why isn't it no and tow - or noo and to? Or go/goo, doe/do, so/soo? And that's just the 2 letter words, without taking sew or toe or two or too into the equation!

I get they're popular names, but my three year old's current swim class consists of two Olivers, an Olivia, an Olive and an Owen; can't help but feel sorry for the instructor trying to keep that straight!

Re-watching 'Winnie the Pooh's Grand Adventure' with the kiddos: good Fall fare. However, it reminds me that Disney just reused the Back Soon/Baxon School/Skull bit in the 2011 film and didn't expect anyone to notice. Possibly I'm the only one who did, but it bugs me!

Dear people of #Vinted: "New With Tags" means, well, new! Immaculate, like you'd expect to find it if you bought it in a shop. If you've opened the box, taken the three rare figures out, and then sealed the box up with brown tape: it's not new!!

Every year in Sept I rewatch a comfort show: Brothers & Sisters. I don't think I've ever met another person who's even mentioned seeing it. But I always find myself wondering what the Walkers would be up to today. Given the current climate, I imagine half of them are not speaking to the other!

Post-D23 prediction (formulated while watching Disney+ with the boys): Lilo & Stitch 2 will essentially make the TV series/Leroy & Stitch canon. And then the Tomorrowland revamp will include a fast food dining option, Reuben's Intergalactic Sandwich Shoppe.

Dear Influencers: using something for its intended purpose - eg a rubber band to hold things together - is not a "hack". Also, if one of the ingredients in your Fall recipe is Betty Crocker cake mix, it's not a "three ingredient dish"! Sincerely, this doom scrolling curmudgeon.

Rare day without the kids, being a nerd at the @disniversity.bsky.social Live Show. Thanks Ben & Sam for a thoroughly educational and entertaining afternoon out. Though I shall now spend my entire train journey home pondering the phrase "flesh men eat flesh fish..."

Now, I'm not saying the Paw Patrol are Colonisers... But what gives Ryder the right to crash on Dino Island and just take over with his giant Dino Patroller headquarters and invite a bunch of scientists etc to move in? Who gave the 10 year old with the dogs jurisdiction to do that?

Third birthday + last ever Mummy & Me swim class + the Kermit Tonie playing "Pictures In My Head" = a good bedtime cry for me!!

Also, shouldn't it be Villains' Land?

So, maybe I missed it, but you know which Disney-owned franchise DIDN'T get a big announcement at D23? The Muppets. Even after that spectacular special. What does a frog have to do to get some love from the mouse house?

Extremely lukewarm take: unless you were first in the queue to buy tickets to Hoppers, I don't want to hear one "ugh, why is Pixar only announcing sequels at D23" comment.

Frozen is not a Christmas movie: and this is a hill I will die on. Winter is not equal to Christmas - also it's actually set in Summer, until the spell - and there are no holiday elements except for snow, ice, and chocolate, which are not specific to December. Thank you for coming to my Ted talk.

You know the problem with the new Prep & Landing special? (Aside from the fact that it's not a special but two shorts spliced together.) There's no Prep; there's no Landing. It's just...two guys, hanging out at the North Pole, and then the beach. It's fun, but it lacks that unique seasoning.

Not to overthink a 19 year old film (yup), but IMO, The King absolutely won the The Piston Cup: Chick should have been disqualified for deliberately causing a crash, and Lightning only made it to the line because he stuck his tongue out; if you go by the front of the body, The King won.

I'm sorry, but K Culkin's Oscar speech is not "couple goals" at all. 'My wife told me she was uncomfortable after I made this joke at the Emmys, so I'm going to ignore her feelings and make it again; I did a good job, even though she didn't believe in me; she now *owes me* two more babies. Ick.

"I love Shrek: it teaches people that appearances aren't all that matter and we shouldn't judge things by them." "Eww, that one screen shot from Shrek 5 looks AWFUL!!"

@erichersey.bsky.social Hi Eric. I live in the UK and listen to your Epic Universal podcast. I was very surprised to see Epic advertised on Disney+ the other day: why would they promote the competition? Or, are they assuming us Brits would come to Florida for a week and do both, so no harm?

Disney Fans: I wish they would give us an old school animated villain again! Also Disney Fans: Man those white lions in Mufasa are dumb...

Just bought a Disney Lorcana deck out of curiosity, and I worry I'm about to go down a very slippery slope!

@drsamsummers.bsky.social @benstravis.bsky.social Loved your Almost Christmas Story episode, especially the shout out for Christmas With The Kranks! I always recommend people read the much-less-silly book it's based on: Skipping Christmas by John Grisham :)

For anyone looking for the classic "Winnie the Pooh and Christmas Too" special on Disney+, it's packaged with "A Very Merry Pooh Year". Follow it with the Donald shorts "Hockey Champ" and "Bearly Asleep" and you'll have pure 90s nostalgia; you're welcome.

@drsamsummers.bsky.social Really enjoyed the episode on Home on the Range. Maybe the answer is "wait for my book", but do you think there was an Antz/Bug's Life correlation between this and Spirit? To my mind, the 'pitches' are essentially the same: tell a Western from the POV of the animals.
