Jayce, glasses crooked and pouting, answers that it's because of his assignment, he wants to give up because the last part makes no sense.

Viktor picks up Jayce's assignment and starts to read it. After a brief pause, he sights and says that it's actually a trick question (a classic Heimerdinger move!). Jayce, flabbergasted, leans heavily towards Viktor to see what he his talking about. Viktor shows him exactly on the paper where the trick question is. Jayce is so close to him, it makes him blush a bit. Jayce, impressed that Viktor found the solution so quickly, smiles from ear to ear and calls him a genius.

Viktor is a bit self-conscious and starts to justify himself but Jayce cuts him off, thanks him and kisses him on the cheek without thinking. His fingers softly brush Viktor's face to tilt it towards him. Viktor, astonished (but not afraid) blushes profusely.
The atmosphere slowly changes as Jayce's hand linger on Viktor's face, his thumb caressing the mole under his eye. They stare at each other intensely, their eyes half-closed.

In a dusty library, whispers can be heard. Viktor, leaning against a tall shelf, is skimming through Jayce's notebook. He is asking about certain blueprints that seem good enough to use.
Jayce, frowning, confirms that he indeed tried to build it build it but it's not working like he wants to. 'I was able to get plasma but I struggle to keep it stable long enough to actually do something. It's driving me insane"
Viktor runs his hand on a page and says that it's still impressive, and that Jayce's magnetic field might be too weak.

Jayce is picking up books. He says that he knows his magnetic field is at fault, and that he reworked it 3 times. He is also worried that the heat is warping the inner structure too. Viktor faces him and asks if he could see it, to see if he can help.
Jayce pauses. He is hesitant.
Viktor panics a little, he's afraid he's asked too much too soon. He tries to reassure Jayce and raises his hands in a gesture of appeasement. He assures that he's just curious about seeing a real fusion reactor because you don't get to seen one every day, he's not trying to steal anything.

Jayce reassures that it's not like that. He wants to trust Viktor but this is a project he is working on off the record and he is afraid the dean or the chancellor will find out.
He's concerned that he might...
- Be expelled ? Viktor finishes his sentence.
Jayce confirms. Him and Viktor are surrounded by books, the scene is slightly intimate. He's afraid of losing his scholarship too.
He confesses to having been involved in an incident last year and that it's his second chance, he doesn't want to fuck it up.

Viktor connects the dots and genuinely asks if this is why Jayce begged him not to report him. Jayce sputters and blushes, he didn't "beg" !! Viktor is just joking of course.

Jayce, taken aback, is speechless. His glasses crack and his heart does a flip. He folds immediately and agrees to let Viktor let him.

They both speak at the same time. Viktor, eyes bright, says that Jayce's notes are fascinating while Jayce, completely panicked, begs him not to report him to the university board.

They both look at each other in confusion.

Viktor is quite intrigued by Jayce's panicked state but doesn't press further, reassures him and says he won't report him. He goes on to say that he would love to learn more about his theories.
Jayce seems relieved that Viktor isn't threatening him but finds the situation very intriguing.

Viktor charmingly suggests that Jayce meets him in the library the next day. Jayce accepts on the spot, his cheeks rosy and his head in the clouds.
As Viktor is leaving, Jayce snaps out of his daze and calls out to him: he still doesn't know his name.

Viktor looks over his shoulder, a mischievous look on his face... And enigmatically asks him if that's the case.

Jayce, confused, stops dead in his tracks. He suddenly becomes horribly aware of something very embarrassing. Blushing furiously, he frantically turns the pages of his notebook.

He stops at the page he was looking for and nervously runs his hand through his hair. Awestruck and bewildered, he laughs.

Beneath the portrait of the beautiful campus stranger he had drawn a few days earlier, where he had noted ‘what's his name?’, was a simple answer written in red ink, accompanied by a phone number.

‘It's Viktor’.
