THIS IS TOP NOTCH!!! The gritty ruthlessness of the outmatched veteran in Eddie Kingston landing the miraculous and lethal blow to a Goliath of an opponent in Jake Doyle. I feared that Kingston was only fodder or at best a novelty display but Kingston’s advancement gives me food for thought…

I love acts of solidarity within the wrestling industry, its team effort that creates the greatest careers of the era and many forgotten foils should be recognized in their their times of need.

Ricochet has excelled as a conniving, braggadocios foil since his feud with Swerve Strickland and done so with a variety of opponents. No matter if it’s more comedic and light-hearted like his Chris Jericho rivalry or his personal humiliation against Swerve, he continues AEW’s most consistent…

A worthy coronation for a character that this audience has seen cry, struggle, bleed and sacrifice for her adored group of comrades and continue to smile and fight valiantly. I think her mentor role for Harley Cameron really placed her in an admirable role that’s unrivaled regardless of division…

Cope finally branching outside of glossy prime-time production and putting his expertise was an enhancer to the wrestling industry as a whole but taking his celebrity and veteran wisdom to a ever-growing cult within his own stomping grounds seems serendipitous in a way that’s undeniable…

Considering the explosive interaction between Omega and Ospreay most likely engulfing the two during days in between now and their inevitable clash and Moxely’s trials of participating within the abstract and unknown “Continental Cup”, how much will Moxely and Ospreay address their differences…

Television is the true showcase for the trios championships when prioritized as the core of the conflict. The championships even being the genesis of the quarrel validates the belt’s legacy as suppose to the passing mentions within high profile feuds it’s been relegated to as of late..

The fluidity of WWE’s roster and obsession of budget saving releases makes this move almost a necessity of Waller’s WWE career viability. Much was left to be desired in terms of tangible accomplishments on the Black and Gold brand, which can be focus for latest venture…

One of the better aspects of AEW is a new crop of charismatic athletes taking the reins of Flagbearers, in a wrestling landscape that was desperate for spokespeople. They speak proudly but wisely and for my money, would perfect candidates to be company leads in any industry…

Bizarre take incoming admittedly, but I believe more wigs should be torn off during wrestling matches. It doesn’t have to signify car crash reality TV if you frame it in an emotionally charged manner. Wigs, masks, even bracelets for that matter are imbued with meaning by their shared experience…

Matt Cardona being tethered to his independent tenure and creating a distinctive perception around himself through his work, has truthfully made him more valuable than his Zach Ryder persona. WWE may never utilize Matt Cardona’s style and meaningfully incorporate his history, but they respect him…

Royce Keys being assisted by a forsaken Solo Sikoa shadowed by Jacob Fatu who mirrors his perspective but is muzzled by cruel circumstance, is brimmed with potential. That compounded with Solo actions inadvertently sealing a Jey USO resurgence to the Main Event is also potential filled.

Hartwell’s introduction left expectations lofty, and despite the best efforts of both TNA and Hartwell, they’ve disappointed utterly. Her contests have been clunky and apathetic with her opponents not being equipped to facilitate heartfelt recoveries from the spirted veteran. Much work to be done….

Maya World being the replacement is miraculous serendipity the likes I’ve never seen. With her recent failure to defeat Athena that delivered no definitive climax to this story, AEW is gifted plentiful fortuity to link the two competitors and profoundly so…

Genuinely curious if Jericho’s absence has any merit, or is simply a chance for Ciampa to flesh out his quarrels without competing with the eclectic, highly charismatic elder-men. Ciampa hasn’t brought any personal animosity to the clime, but maybe akin to Ricochet, he won’t reinvent the wheel…

AEW is a brand prime for reinvention for competitors that could be perceived as stuck. However, I don’t think that’s where Killer Kross is currently. He’s in his element traveling around the country as a champion of the people…

The liberty that Oba Femi has been gifted; and burdened with; is a crucible that’s he’s overcome with ease seemingly. His popularity keeps him unbound to any preconceived limits or growing pains and for a specimen like Oba Femi, I think fate has forced the hand where it needed to be all along

I fear that Rollins stating his intentions is a bit of a red herring in terms of direction. Rollins’s failure will integrate him inside of Bloodline affairs but won’t cross his paths against Roman Reigns individually. It’s just a hunch but Rollins seemed destined to pass his torch very soon..

GrapplingThoughts @grapplingthoughts.bsky.social · 09/06/2026

A Chad Gable driven by atonement of his Lucha disgracing acts of yesteryear resembles the scornful New Day betrayal of 2024. The beginning and premises WWE present are brimmed with promise but the lack of dedication and commitment makes hope for a climax feel foolhardy at best. But hope remains

Underdog is peculiar but from an angle could encapsulate Kyle’s rise perfectly. A United Empire member, tagged along with the phenomenon known as Will Ospreay as one half of a rising but relatively obscure tag team who were fodder on ALL-IN pre-show. Despite the odds, Fletcher’s talent shined…

He’s always seemed eager to be visible and hands on with a brand that’s been scrutinized ruthlessly for decades, but his inclusion is clunky and immersion breaking in most instances. TNA has lost most of its whimsical appeal by trickling in tabloid stories onto their shows but a balance can be met

I think Gunther being overly impressive and Cody barely scraping by with intricate tie-up pin can really assist both men and their journeys. It doesn’t necessarily have to be further their rivalry directly as even as the conclusion it leaves both men with opportunities for growth.

Though The Dogs seems like introductory challengers to cement Cope and Cage’s championship reign, liable to be considered fodder, there’s something that can be gained here. Both men have shown a propensity to brutalize and explode in the ring but once their personalities matches, it’ll be perfect…

A very lax and adventurous individual from what I gathered and I hope it seeps into his matches more and more. More instinctive and primal, with expressions that could be framed in art museums for its clarity and discretion. He seems aloof but not similar to Sanada where it’s blasé. More passion

000

GrapplingThoughts @grapplingthoughts.bsky.social · 28/05/2026

Placing Black and Sade on the same side evokes potential dissent that adds to the match’s championship stipulations. Lei Ying teaming with the Elegance Brand risks making that issue redundant but Brookside’s recent change in perspective may anchor against the crashing tides on either side. Curious

The power behind fan discourse is a subject taboo among backstage executives I bet. Having to contend with not only passionate but well-researched fans, is a sobering confrontation that even AEW seldom takes head on. I say this to say, that the power of many can overwhelm the power of a few…

Considering how things simmered with the NXT and TNA collaboration, Santino would be a nice self contained bit of entertainment. Have Santino and Danhausen run amuck at the mid point of the show, and have those elongated breaks filled with something that eases the audience.

His most underrated trait is his ability to be an eraser and consistently lift his contest’s floor to a healthy satisfactory performance. The more he proves his worth, the greater I pray his reward will be in the future similar to Swerve Strickland

GrapplingThoughts @grapplingthoughts.bsky.social · 27/05/2026

The indoctrination set by precedent always has a sweeping effect in monoliths. Television was insular so the world seemed the same as well. AEW has different aspirations than simple viability. Tony Khan’s presence makes monetary value more a luxurious goal than a company saving necessity anyway

American sports are in this strange transitional period where it’s clear that their hearts are set on international frontiers but they still must placate their initial audiences. All while the critiques on the homeland grows fiercer with nationalism as the driver.

AEW complimenting one of their most eventful showings with consequential contests, building upon the animosity that wasn’t addressed directly is what fluidity and impeccable consistency looks like. A constant stream of progression without haste or frenzy, AEW is hitting their stride.

The main event position may be wishful thinking but I believe both women are prepared for it. With Statlander’s excellent track record in hardcore demolition derbies, this can be the catalyst for the emphasis that need be placed on the women division

I love how this match set the stage for Shida as an antagonist of the division. Stemming from her sense of betrayal when Statlander struck her earlier on in the contest. Her confusion at Kris’s animosity towards her when she did the same, all culminating with Shida unapologetically snapping.
