I love the animated menu in Silver Pines. The blood and rain textures create a really nice effect. Also, this is rapidly turning into one of my Games of the Year for 2026. It's awesome. The game is hard. Combat in 2D is on the tricky side but the atmosphere and immersion is on another level.

I started playing Silver Pines last night - a 2D metroidvania Survival Horror game which seems inspired by 90s tv like The X Files and Twin Peaks, as well as games like Alan Wake and Resident Evil/Silent Hill Only played the first 2 hrs but it's excellent so far. Very atmospheric.

Game #10 finished this year - Star Wars: Zero Company I enjoyed this a lot. Despite the issues with glitches and crashes, it was a really solid TTRPG set in the SW universe. Some excellent character writing and a decent story really helped immerse you in the world as well.

I'm on the final fight of Star Wars: Zero Company and it's against a bullet sponge boss that once you get them below 100 hp can heal 75% of their health by consuming souls (alive or dead). So unless you have high burst damage chars. then it's gonna be long and drawn out - 2 hrs+

I'm near the end of SW: Zero Company and it's been fun but also frustrating at times due to bugs: - AI animations stop processing sometimes for up to 2 mins. You have to wait for them to finish - There's incomplete grey box textures in the environments - Camera sometimes stops working completely

You can tell Star Wars: Zero Company owes a debt to X-Com - not only does the title shorter to ZCom (which I didn't realise until someone pointed it out) but.. you get an achievement for missing a shot with 90% chance or more to hit. Brings back memories..or should I say PTSD

Star Wars: Zero Company has a critical save game bug where if you try and autosave at the same time the game hits a checkpoint then you can't save at all for the entirety of that mission. I found this out last night - lost 2 hrs progress and had to restart the whole mission from the top.

I started Star Wars: Zero Company last night. It's very good so far. I really like how it blends traditional TTRPG gameplay with a decent story and also gives you the ability to explore and gather clues before starting some missions. The presentation is excellent as well. Great voice acting too.

I still love playing video games but, nowadays, my body doesn't like it so much. Carpal tunnel in my hand right hand can make it difficult some days. It's painful at times. But I keep playing because I still really enjoy gaming and it helps keep me sane. While I still can, I will.

So I thought I had got lucky and found the trader in Valheim after sailing to only 2 islands.. Turns out it was Hildir I found, not Haldor. They both have the same trade icon which confused me. I got baited. I knew it was too good to be true.

Been playing Stalker 2 for a few weeks now and I'm enjoying it but I'm starting to get that itch to play other stuff. Like Valheim 1.0. Tempted to start a new save to unlock the new achievements. Only problem is..I leave a lot of games unfinished. And I'm trying to change that.

After 50 hrs I'm still really liking Stalker 2. The story has taken an interesting turn as well so I'm keen to see where it goes next. BUT, I really wish it wouldn't crash so much. I've had about 8 hard crashes so far. Apparently the game has an issue with certain AMD gpus. Don't I know it.

What video game changed your life? I was going through a really bad break up in 1999 (legal & courts) and FFVII was a good distraction. It kept me sane during a really difficult period of my life. It's part of why I love the series to this day.

I have to wear a heart monitor for the next 72 hrs to see if I've got an issue that needs investigating. Been getting a lot of palpitations recently. Now I feel like Tony Stark, although his heart "monitor" is a bit bigger than mine 😅

I died about 8 times to the Controller in the WPP in #Stalker2. When I eventually figured out a strategy to avoid his psi attacks, I got lucky by pinging a grenade at him as he was passing an explosive tank. Sometimes you get lucky in games. I'll take it.

I *think* I've narrowed my PC issues down to the latest Win 11 update being the culprit. Had another BSOD today where the Windows search bar just randomly crashed and locked up the pc. Be careful if you're on Win 11 25H2 as it's been very flaky for me and caused a lot of system instability.

Been having numerous PC issues in the last wk - BSOD's/system hangs during games. Trying to work out if it's AMD's good old "reliable" drivers(!) not playing well with Windows 11 or a possible hardware issue. Aside from making sure everything's up to date, driver wise not sure what else I can do.

I finished watching Succession last night. It was excellent. A modern Shakespearian style drama focusing on a wealthy family running a media empire - very well written with a mixture of truly detestable and interesting, complex characters that were compelling to watch. Highly recommend. On HBO Max.

Been enjoying Stalker 2 and the 2.0 update. This is the first time I've played it but it runs smoothly and has been an enjoyable experience so far. If Control was an FPS survival game, it would look like this. Atmospheric and creepy at times.

I gave up with System Shock: Remake. I liked it for the first few hours then it got tedious and not fun pretty quickly. Especially with the backtracking and enemies spawning right behind you "at random". Need a story based game to play next. Struggling to find something. Might try Stalker 2.

Picked up Neon White recently for next to nothing. It's a real gem of a game and a lot of fun. I am a sucker for games that nail movement and parkour. And this one does it with really well. It mixes FPS mechanics with card based movement abilities.

One of my pet peeves in video games is backtracking and System Shock Remake has a *lot* of it. I know it's based on an old game and I'm trying to give it some leeway but it's testing my tolerance to be honest.

System Shock (remake) does not hold your hand. You have to figure out where to go next from audio logs and text files. You know, do some actual reading rather than look for the next bit of yellow paint. There are no quests, just tasks you need to complete. And an AI with delusions of grandeur.

I started playing the System Shock remake last night. The enemies in the early part of the game are no joke. It's pretty challenging until you can find a gun. I think the trick is to lure them out and find cover. If you rush in then you tend to get obliterated quite quickly.
